Free2BeMe:
I agree with your posts. There has to be love, trust and commitment.
And, as for your acquaintances who act as if you should envy or want their lifestyle - I DON'T think so. They don't really think so either. I think it is a case of misery loves company and I think they envy your peace of mind because you are not worrying what you caught from the latest sexual encounter.
Who needs it.

Is a sexually promiscuous life style linked to depression or insecurity?
by free2beme ini work in an environment at work that is a mix of adult ranging in age from 18-50. there are 300 plus people in the building, and that means you get a lot of soap operas happening from people sleeping with other people's girlfriends, boyfriends and even people cheating on their spouses with people they work with.
among the bunch is a large group of people who spend a lot of time passing themselves around, and sampling many sexual partners.
of the people who i know, i have often found that many do not seem as happy as one might think.

Service talk on changes at Bethel, layoffs, spirit of urgency
by truthseeker inlast week an elder who has served in bethel gave the service meeting talk, which referred to the front page of the sep km (which i don't yet have) on the governing body's letter to all publishers.. he started by saying that "drastic times call for drastic measures" - bethel was going through periods of rapid change.. he referred to a symposium given by brother jaracz and splane last december, where they tried to brush off the layoffs saying everyone had to keep "up with jehovah's celestial chariot".
bethelites were being reassigned to the field, and this would be difficult for them.
some in bethel who were being reassigned had been there 20 or 30 years.

As I mentioned on a similar thread a month or so ago, I hope Jehovah finds these ex-Bethelites a job.
If they are really expecting to be "supported" like a clergyman in their new congregations, they are in Delusional-Land mode. Even people who feel sorry for them won't be able to give them much.
Some of the luckier ones will probably be employed by some brother with a business. Maybe some others have family who will help them out and they might get a handout here and there. For the most part, they are going to have to fend for themselves just like everybody else.

Are "Apostates" jumping the gun with their info on the WT to make a case?
by booker-t ini take some of the things apostates say with a "grain of salt" because many times i think they embellish the truth to make the wt look bad to make their case.
for example i have for years heard that the wt uses "satanic" images in their artwork but i have yet to see any proof of these accusations.
i have heard that jw's no longer practice "disfellowshipping" but my teenage niece was recently "disfellowshipped".

Avengers:
Not offended (I am thick skinned). I happen to think the term apostate is laughable. First of all, other religions use it also. Besides, I was technically an apostate when I left catholicism. But you can't help what terms the JWs want to use on people who left.
I know most JWs are nice people. The problem is that they will not examine anything contrary until and if they are good and ready which means a calamity has to happen to them first. Even then they will still have doubts and will cling to their beloved religion.
With regard to exposing them today on their controversial issues and having credibility the burden proof is on the one pointing the finger.
In the old days, when "apostates" marched outside stadiums with masks on and signs you didn't really know what they were about and it looked pathetic really. It seemed hokey or corny and the JWs I was with would point and say: "look at those Apostates trying to take our hope away". Now it can't be like that. You not only have to look just as "businesslike" as they do but your facts have to be air-tight. Not just so the "world" will listen but also the JWs inside (well, maybe not all of them but SOME).

I believe they are linked. I agree with many of the posts here. I am grateful that I gave that up along with smoking. With my luck who knows what could have happened to me.
It seems too many married men are cheating or want to. I know because I know two of them. I don't brag about my celibate state but what I am encountering are people (both men and women) who are anxious for me to start screwing around (yeah, so I could be running to doctors like I did back then). I have no desire to - and am more afraid now than I was then. I am not the same person I was years ago and the world is not the same place. I am content the way I am unless I meet somebody special.

To Avengers:
Calm Down Boy! I'm on your side! (I'm not a new poster by the way - I just haven't been around for a while).
I just want everybody here to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, the onus is on the person or persons doing the exposing - whether it is about religion or anything else.

As far as "Apostates" jumping the gun with info on the WT... I think in some cases this is unfortunately true. All this does is give fuel to the JW belief that "Apostates" [rolls eyeballs] are telling lies about the JWs and persecuting them. This burns me up because they are not being persecuted. They are simply being exposed.
I know it sounds unfair and is a double standard, but I feel that ex-JWs or "Apostates" who want to expose the JWs had better get all their facts straight or they will not be taken seriously.

Would this offend you, if the government made this policy
by free2beme inif the government had this policy .... given that 100% of the terrorist who did 9/11 were arab, and most terrorist are arab.
we as a government will racially profile the arab population and visitors to our country.
spending more time inspecting them, checking them out, and making sure that they are singled out and watched more then any other race.. would this offend you?.

Beardo:
I am sorry if you were picked on or made to suffer because of your appearance. That is always tragic. It seemed there was a lot of hysteria at one point. Unfortunately, the British are rather biased against darker-type people and have a real WOG complex. I was in England years ago and I heard that expression (WOG) and asked somebody what it meant. I heard that in Australia, Greeks, Italians are considered WOGS. They might consider me one even though I am light. Whatever.
I also heard that O.B.L. was with the CIA. I am not surprised at anything I hear. While I do agree that governments have agendas, I cannot agree with your statement about a "phantom" Islamic terrorist network. I have seen the hostility and know it exists. It is no phantom.

Even if the Israelis didn't use profiling it would make sense - common sense. Something we all seem to lose when we reach adulthood and become corrupted by political correctness. It seems we are all being sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.
Just because many people believe in racial profiling it does not mean they are "ready to hand their rights over"...etc. as you suggest. It makes me angry that because of bureaucratic corruption and inefficiency, we have to NEEDLESSLY surrender some rights. No, maybe we should just go on searching grandmothers from Wisconsin just so that somebody who DOES fit the profile can feel good about himself. Yeah, all the would-be terrorists are laughing at how easy the liberal west is making it for them.
As far as the disaffected white youth in your country causing trouble, I feel sorry for them. They probably feel betrayed by seeing their country occupied by all the third worlders - an unfortunate legacy of colonialism. The chickens have come home to roost.

No, it would not offend me. And for those who ask if I would like it if it were done to me, I would tell them: "when auburn haired women go around committing acts of terrorism, I will humbly submit to being searched and would not blame anybody for profiling". But, hey, that's me. Other people are unreasonable about profiling. They reason that terrorists may not always fall into the stereotype. While this may be true, what about the majority of times?? The Israelis use profiling and I don't blame them. It is utter insanity not to use it.

"Are the rules that hard to follow?"
by rebel8 inoften i hear jws claim that people leave the borg because they cannot follow the rules, implying that anyone who leaves lacks character, self control, and/or moral values.. often i hear jwd posters--me included--say the myriad of rules in the borg is one of (not the only) reason they would not follow the org.
virgochick said it well in the "how do you feel about the name j----?
" thread:.

Greendawn: You are right. They revert to the old testament because it suits their control complex. Jesus' message is too simple for them. The very simplicity of it will not allow them to exercise the cruel control over people that they so crave. This craving for control and lording it over other people is a real defect of mankind. These people are just full of themselves and getting off on power and having the arrogance that they can make people chase their tails! And, it isn't simply whether the rules are hard to follow or not. That isn't the point. These rules shouldn't be there in the first place. They like to say that Jesus quoted from the old testament so therefore they feel it is right that they revert to it - completely ignoring the new testament or just giving it occasional lip service.
