  Yeah, I get it and see the shade of difference in the language. I wasn’t in the religion yet in 1969. I was a teenager and still a Catholic.

  I came in the JWs in the late ‘70s. I was new in the workforce and would not quit my job to appease the Witnesses. Hell no! I saw people collecting their pensions. They were in the workforce so why would I not be.

  I’m curious though:..if somebody is told that they “will never grow old in this system of things”, at what age do they realize something might be wrong with this picture? Age Forty?? I would be uneasy..That still wouldn’t be too late for somebody to do something about their retirement, IMO.

  Good luck to them.

  Yes, the JWs are awaiting a free and easy ride to Paradise.

  Back in the day I said exactly that about JWs who were on the fringes of the workforce - looking for freebies and handouts! Meanwhile, I was criticized for my full time job..So, I never gave anything to these pioneers.

  It is really despicable the attitude the Witnesses have about the rest of the world. I was always sickened by talk about them hoping to ‘live in somebody’s mansion’.

  This is also another reason why I’m glad I’m no longer in this religion.

  WTB&TS And The Lawyers They Employ.

  i have been thinking about the legal departments that look after the wts interests around the world.i can`t believe these legal eagles offer their services on a voluntary basis like the r&f do.and i don`t believe their services would come cheap.. as an organization the size of jw.org and its offshoots of companys and interests around the world ,the cost of keeping them gainfully employed must amount to a considerable sum of money.. especially the law suits against them with child abuse court cases that arise on a regular basis ,and the government inquiry`s into the jw religion that is happening in different countries now.. all paid for by the voluntary contributions that come from the r&f for the worldwide preaching work .. contributions to pay for the wt organization`s legal department to defend themselves in court ?.

  did jesus and the apostles pay lawyers to defend them in a court of law with funds donated by their supporters ?.

  No, I didn’t ‘jump off the deep end’. I kept my job. For that I was criticized and hardly invited anywhere.

  Now the JW religion is filled with needy people who didn’t want to be part of the workforce..who instead preferred to knock on doors..Armageddon was supposed to have come to save them..This is really against the Bible because it ignores the example of the lowly ant ‘who stores up’.

  The game plan now is for these people to target other Witnesses in the congregation for $$..The religion won’t help them..SO, any member who looks halfway decent, isn’t downright crazy, has a job..can expect to REGULARLY be hit up left and right for cash like they were an ATM machine.

  This is what I would be facing if I were still there!!! I hate being right all the time but I knew something like this would happen to these JWs who criticized ME for working.

  SILENT BUDDHA:

  Wow, the hypocrisy is just staggering!

  They quietly look for ‘studious types’ to send to college because it will benefit the RELIGION.. But, yet they will tell the rank & file JWs that college and careers are evil.👎🏻

  The religion couldn’t care less if the average JW can even put food on their table, as long as they are ignorant and compliant. I despised the religion’s stand against college/careers. Thankfully, I never paid any mind to their stupid talk and am Retired today.

  anyone ever hear of someone getting dfed in a congregation then moving cross country and joining another jw congregation and not telling them you were dfed.

  I’m not surprised this does happen.. A person wants to make a clean start without people being biased against them..but you can’t accomplish this in the Jehovah’s Witness religion.

  The Witnesses send a letter when somebody moves to a new congregation and says where they came from. I think only the elders see it.

  In some ways this is a protection and warns the new elders if this person is a problem. (What’s bad is if the congregation is not warned!).. Sadly though, this letter can be very biased against somebody and this may be unfair..But, there is nothing that John/Jane Q Publisher can do about this.

  I had heard by gossip about one such letter that followed a person who came back after living elsewhere...It was very unflattering and suggested the person should have restrictions put on them, etc.

  Welcome back. I am a longtime ‘fader’ who has been on here for fifteen years.

  A lot has happened in the JW religion. They have gone from bad to worse with high control and intrusiveness. I said years ago that I didn’t want to be anywhere near JWs who didn’t want to work when REALITY hit them.. It did. Thousands have been released from bethels over the last decade or so. Other JWs in congregations have reached retirement age with no preparation because they thought Armageddon would have come before this time.

  Craziest thing you ever saw in a KH?

  i did this in my facebook group for my podcast and it was fun.. so what's the craziest thing you ever saw?.

  for me it was watching a brother have a heart attack during the meeting in the auditorium.

  i was a kid and noticed him shaking and acting strange.

  It’s too bad that the JW religion instills this kind of cruelty in some people. A parent that does sick shit like this deserves unloving treatment in return.

  Waco Mini-Series on Netflix. Powerful and Scary.

  so we binge-watched the waco mini-series on netflix.. wow, what a powerful and enlightening programme!

  even if you think you know what happened, it gives you extra context to it all.

  it's very well done even if you just want a great drama series, but it's way more than that.. there are of course some dramatization and slight historical inaccuracies for the purpose of story-telling but it was very informative.

  I remember when Waco was happening. This was disgraceful and I’m sorry for all the unnecessary deaths.

  Yes, I believe David Koresh was delusional and the rest of the adults there as well. He was running his little kingdom and getting to have sex with whomever he wanted. But, did they all deserve to die the way they did? I don’t think so.

  A recipe for disaster and bloodshed and having the government come down with a sledgehammer:..just start your own cult or group out in the desert somewhere - and then let it be known that you have a cache of weapons. You’ll get a real Armageddon!

  There Are Better Songs to Sing

  the 1983 film educating rita, written by willy russell and starring michael caine and julie walters, is one of the finest stories ever told.

  julie's character is the eponymous working class hairdresser and michael caine plays professor frank bryant her open university tutor assigned, against his will, to teach her english literature.

  the dialogue is brilliant and funny but it is the dilemma of an awakening rita caught between two worlds that is deeply moving.
