I can’t feel sorry for stupid JWs.

Anybody who was in this religion/ organization for decades had to have seen the results of what happens to people who got college/career versus those who did not. People reached retirement age with no preparation whatsoever in a terrible predicament!!.. I saw poor older stragglers in the congregation who were pinching pennies. I could see they weren’t well respected. Yet, I had some busybody older people telling me ‘I should quit my job’.. I’m Thankful today I ignored those bastards.

Even the stupidest ‘worldly’ person knows they need to prepare for retirement. Even a person with no ambition who had a so-so job and worked full time at least built up credits for SS and Medicare. This is better than the absolutely nothing the Witness has because they were convinced they needed to make the sacrifice be in the full-time ministry..So, now the scenario is there are too many needy with their hands out in this collapsing religion nobody wants to be in or around!.. I’m glad I got out years ago.

Help please.

recently, in the past few months, and this only applies to in dubs who might have taken note, the watchtower study edition made a change.

it mentioned the “warning work” where dubs are going to march around and proclaim everyone is going to die.. anyway, this article said it was now only a possibility, not a sure thing.. i can’t find it.

did watchtology change it already?.

I remember many years ago they said their warning work would change to a message of condemnation at the doors.

I always wondered how they were going to pull this off. Would they go up to a door and say to the person: “Hello, we are to preach a message of condemnation to you because you did not join our religion, therefore, you will be destroyed soon along with everybody else.”

Since I am a twenty-one year Fader, I am not up to date on what they believe. Although, when I corresponded with an old JW acquaintance over a year ago, they sounded like the wicked witch and were certain this was the end because of Covid. (I think many JWs thought this.)..This person had a very punishing tone saying “they were ALL warned..” I wondered if she included ME because I’m Out of the religion. 😒.

When I had a conversation with her the end of last year her tone was a little more subdued.

Of course many JWs there were married to those outside the religion.

The religion is made up of many converts over the years so it stands to reason they were once outside the religion. I was a convert from Catholicism (but I am now 21 years thankfully ‘Faded’ from the JW religion). I always felt the bad attitude the religion has toward somebody in the congregation looking for and dating somebody outside is absurd and should stop..Where the hell do they think they got the bulk of their present members from? They are certainly not all born-ins.

I also thought most of this bias was directed at single female JWs who looked outside for a husband because there’s nobody there for them. The religion knows when a woman gets married they can’t just go up to her asking favors because the husband may tell them off..When the sister got married they lost a potential drudge to do favors. (But, they never got anywhere with me though.)

So, as others have said, some will frown on a JW who is dating somebody outside. But, if two people want to be together I wish them all the best. In time, people there will get over it and come to accept the new person - especially when they see how many Witnesses are jumping ship and leaving the religion nowadays!

Are Jehovah’s Witnesses softening their view of Faders?

so my in-laws actually went out to dinner with us today.

normally, since leaving in 2016, they wouldn’t eat with us or talk much to me.

(since i did convince their daughter to leave the cult).

Don't know if you are aware but there was something written recently that JWs are instructed to provide contact information that is ALLOWED to include non-JW family members and friends!

I can’t say that in your case this is why their attitude towards you has softened. I also hope they don’t ‘want’ anything from you. Let’s hope it’s just goodwill. But, I have a suspicious nature and would keep on the watch, as they say. 😉

Michael's Story (JW commits suicide)

That is correct that ‘good little JWs have no escape hatch’. This is by design but they don’t realize it. It is all about control and insuring they have no place to turn to when the whole thing goes to shit. This was the sad situation this poor guy was in.

When I joined as a young working adult, they told me I shouldn’t bother with my non-JW family and get rid of my ‘worldly’ friends. I was told I should only have friends who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. They said everybody else was no good and the world was under the influence of the devil.

I held onto my non-JW friends for years until we grew apart. MY job was my ‘escape hatch’ although I couldn’t have known it at the time. It was one place where I was free and the religion had no control there. When I saw the ‘handwriting on the wall’ about the religion and knew I had to get out - I made sure I rekindled old acquaintances and contacted relatives!

JWs who want a way out have to quietly and cleverly establish some friends and contacts outside the religion for when the day comes they have to jump ship. I hope any lurkers can learn from this very sad story!

A long conversation with mom

my mom has been on the fence for awhile.

she has done a laundry list for watchtower.

so i asked her, would you continue to invest in a company that promises outrageous dividends but never delivers?

Very good for looking after your mom now that she is in a vulnerable mental state!

We did the same with my Dad in his mental decline the years before he died. Even though we weren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses he was targeted left and right. I remember once yelling into the phone at some young female who kept calling him about the car warranty. I was on the other extension listening in. I told her she called three times that day and Never call again.. Some of these pains in the ass are legit but Will stop harassing a senior when they Know family members are on the scene looking out for them!.. As for the others that are just predators looking out for what they can get, you just have to be vigilant in blocking numbers, freezing credit reports, etc. This is a terrible reality in this day and age.

If I were still in the religion (which I’m Glad I’m not) I would be directly bothered for money along with anybody who looks halfway decent. Doesn’t matter that I was criticized for my full-time job. They have selective memory loss and it sounds like they are in desperation mode.. I don’t want anything to do with them… Why would anybody in their right mind want to be around this? 👎

Maybe your mom doesn’t want to leave the JW religion because her whole life revolves around it. It doesn’t matter if she sees all the broken promises because she’s there for the ‘friends’ she has..As long as YOU can see it who cares if she wants to stay in.

I know about ‘older ones’ who have too much time invested there. But, if anybody analyzes the whole thing .. the JW religion itself cannot deliver ANYTHING. They are telling people that somebody ELSE namely, God, is going to deliver! The ever sought-after carrot on the stick (Paradise), is supposedly going to be delivered by somebody ELSE.

I remember how they constantly berated everybody that whatever they did was never enough. It wasn’t enough that I did my few hours of service on the weekends. No, I was supposed to give up my full-time job and pursue poverty to be in the ministry (so said the hypocrites with cushy lives already collecting THEIR pensions). I wouldn’t be retired today if I followed this garbage.

I’m so glad I walked away from all this. It was so unhealthy mentally.

i am all for the second amendment and this does not change my mind.

but i do hate this kind of thing, makes my stomach turn.

That’s good. I hate when certain people in the U.S. try to make comparisons with small countries in Europe when discussing the gun issue, etc.

There are vastly more people here in the U.S. and an unknown number have serious problems both social and mental. And it’s too bad if anybody doesn’t like me for saying this. A lot of people won’t touch this topic with a ten-foot pole..It’s hopeless.

Bottom line: if the sad day ever came that guns were ‘banned’..(and don’t say ‘assault rifles’ because it would start there) everybody can rest assured that every criminal and lowlife here would have guns. Yes, they would be armed to the teeth!!

The only people who would NOT have guns would be the average law-abiding, tax paying citizens who are the most vulnerable and preyed upon. They would be sitting ducks for anything! The only recourse they would have would be to call the police 🤣. Yeah. Maybe the cops would come, maybe not. Maybe they’d get the wrong house. Good luck with that scenario, everybody.

I agree that being a PIMO JW is dangerous and that a person should just get out and run. They should block phone numbers.

However, you might be pursued if you are a man and/or have something they want or can offer freebies (a business, etc.) They’ll either come into the business or corner you when you’re leaving your house.

Being PIMO is especially harmful to a person’s mental health with all this pretending and fakery. And, they absolutely have to keep their mouth shut about anything they don’t like or else they are blown and everything can be taken from them as we have sadly seen.

Unfortunately, not every JW is in a position to just get out and run if they have family there or (God forbid) work for Witnesses. I’m glad I had no family there. The JWs didn’t look for me because I was considered a lousy Witness anyway. I had low hours and wouldn’t do favors for all the Users in the religion! They have no use for anybody they can’t exploit.

Worship study this week

since i need to keep up for family's sake i "study"(skim, its not deep).

worship: pray, study ( wt), go to meetings ( formal, not gathering 2 or 3), preach.

thrn add helping build halls, donating, and since donations go one way only, give material aid to others.. note construction time isn't for service,( but i may have turned in time for it).

Sorry you still have to attend meetings for the sake of your family. 🤮So, it’s pray, study, meeting and donate (and give material aid to others)?

I’m sure there’s very much stress on that nowadays with all the needy people in the religion.

Let’s see: you have the run of the mill JWs who worked at not-so-great jobs and didn’t make much; you have pioneers of all ages (who didn’t count the cost); you have bethelites who got kicked out and hopefully brothers with businesses help; you have people with serious issues that JWs started studies with to fill the empty seats in the hall and then you have assorted types who may have lost their jobs because of Covid downsizing..Aside from this there may be a few responsible types mixed in who make a decent living: some older, etc.

The point is that the ‘needy’ types are more numerous now than over 21 years ago. I was surrounded by mostly suburban homeowner types. Once in a blue moon you’d be approached by somebody with an envelope.

This is in sharp contrast to what is happening in the religion now. So, in addition to not really knowing what they actually believe in, the JWs are pretty much about aggressive asking for money. People there are poor MAINLY because they followed the religion’s advice not to get careers or plan for their retirement..Meanwhile, I was criticized because of my full-time job.

I am Out now and would never tolerate these people looking in my direction asking for anything! Sorry for what the JW religion has turned into..That’s it in a nutshell.
