Hi maple newbie, welcome- I know what you mean. You learn not to read people for they way they come off. You just dismiss it and think you are being negative in thinking that so-and-so seems abusive. But how could that be in "Jehovah's house"?!!! It's so crazy.
By the way- I know that kind of smirk all too well. It's as if they have it plastered on their face just to seem normal. I think it's because they are planning their strategies at all times. Like a game or war tactics. They get really proud of themselves for being sneaky enough to get away with it. Like a conquerer. They don't even see how weak they really are. And every so often they get hit with guilt and try to make up for it by being everyone's friend and a help to others. But then the feeling passes and they're right back setting out tactics for their next prey.
It's a shame that the watchtower society does not view these people as a threat to our future generations. They view it more like a man's weakness, like looking at pornography to the point of addiction or masturbating too much is a weakness. They say that if they know of anything happening that they report it to the police. Since when! Out of all the ex-jw's in the world that have been a victim of child abuse, when have you ever heard of the elders calling the police? I never have. If a few here and there did get reported, that is not enough! Every case needs to be reported! These are people lives and futures.
Their own literature states, 'If you know of someone committing a sin, then you are required to report the matter, or you are just as guilty as the person who sinned'. In that case, the WTS are child abusers and one day the 'wrath of god' (in whatever form that will be) will come down on them and show no mercy. Wouldn't it be great if this case was the beginning of the end for them?!
