for example: are you christian?
pagan?
Why do you need a label on who you are?
It's ok to be a mix of whatever you want to be. If you feel comfortable in the christian religion then go with that. Go with whatever feeds your soul and makes you happy. In the end, that's all everybody wants to do, live a happy, healthy, good life. So don't stress out about picking what one fits you. My Sunday morning- watching cartoons with the kids and going back to bed with my husband for a "nap". That makes me happy.

It's not about what is popular, it's about what is true.
I have not made a scientific poll to discover what the actual percentage of people is, but it doesn't take a scientist to figure out that the jw "religion" is a cult. Whether you like it or not, it is. If you go by the definition of what a cult is the jw's fit it perfectly. They have control over your every move, because if you disagree with them you will lose your family and friends. If you disobey them, you will lose your family and friends. It's also not wrong to say that is about the same thing that happens in a communist country. You cannot fall out of line or you will lose everything important to you, in the name of god of course. This publishing company only started about 100 or so years ago, yet they seem to think they are the only ones on earth that know what god wants. How haughty of them!

This is what most of the world considers Jehovah's Witnesses to be like. How can 90% of the population of humanity be wrong. On wikipedia.org, this is the definition of a cult.
If you think the idea of jw's being a cult is ridiculous then, why can't you read other books about religion? Why can't you associate with people outside of your religion? If abuse happens to you, why do you have to be quite about it and not tell police? If you disagree with a decision that the leaders make, why would that put your status in jeopardy? Why can't you decide what clothing you want to wear or what movies you want to watch? Why are you obligated to go to every meeting and if you don't you are talked bad about? Why do you have to go door to door to be in good standing? Why does the material always talk about negative things? Like- the end is coming, everyone else is evil, destroy the evildoer, etc,.
I would like to add that sometimes we don't want to see the bad in something, so we stay blinded to it. Yes the sea of humanity has it's faults and some people turn out to be criminals. The mistake that the jw's make is that they will kick out good people, who may have just "sinned" in the christian sense of the word. Kicking people out for having sex is like throwing your children off of a bridge because they didn't clean up their room. It is unnecessarily cruel for family to treat a member of their family this way. It is modern day branding, and it should not be tolerated.
Why do they have to have so much control over what everyone does? I may go to work with several different people who have different morals, that doesn't mean I'll turn out just like them. And it definetly doesn't mean that I'll stop talking to them and treating them with respect. That is what makes it a cult, the amount of control they have over your life. You can justify it by saying you are just following what Jehovah wants you to do, but Jesus himself did not like the pharisees for doing the same thing that the WT and elders are doing. If god wanted us to be that controlled he would have put up a fence around the 'tree of life' so that Eve could not eat from it.

i am 33 years old and have never had a relationship with anyone.
i have never dated..and as much as i would like to blame the jws, truth is i have never been asked out by anyone..ever.. i am a bit large, but i am not too fat or ugly and i think i am a good person, so why can't i find someone??
A friend of mine put her info on an internet dating site. She liked it because you could just sit back and watch the guys contact her if they were interested, so it wasn't any of that " oh I hope he likes me" business. And you can delete the ones you don't like. Post your picture and be honest about who you are and I think you'll find someone that is compatible with you.
However, I wouldn't recommend going out and marrying the one of the first few guys you date. It takes awhile to figure out what you really like in a man, instead of what you thought you liked. If sex is still an issue, see a sex therapist to help you enjoy something that is natural for a human to enjoy. IMHO
the mind is what the brain does; not who you are.
the soul is an idea that would seem to have testable consequences.

The evidence shows that they are completely determined by the physical configuration of the brain, and that a change to this configuration can alter, reduce or eliminate any of them.
Hmm.. I think that is true because I had minor nerve damage after my car accident and it has changed me. I am more relaxed now and before I was a perfectionist. I used to love the color green and now I like red or black. I used to dress more "sweet" now I dress more "funky, modern, retro". I used to be quick with my thoughts and always knew just what to say, now sometimes I say the "wrong eclectic" thing. I used to always be the one smiling and now I'm more reserved but still friendly.
The only thing that makes me wonder if their is more to us then what we see is- Why do people on their death bed lose 24 grams of weight? What is leaving their body at the exact moment of death that would cause this?
Don't know- I would like there to be more out of life, but I'm not sure that there is.

i know typical doublespeak from dubs.. which method of parenting will most likely result in your child being a stronger jw?
a strict parent who enforces family study, meeting attendance regardless of health, regular service, constant spiritual talk inserted into daily life, having dub families over a lot and creating situations for regular association with dub kids of a similar age and not allowing association with school and neighborhood kids.
The relaxed way-
I've met some people that were raised that way and they didn't think being a jw was a bad thing at all. They thought I was being too critical. But then again, they didn't tell the kh about all of "sinning" that they were doing. Dummy me, I told the elders everything because I thought J god would punish me with bad luck.

I follow myself and my family. If their is a God/Goddess/Being then it should understand that.
Giving birth to my children was a very spiritual experience. It was like the room was breathing and everything had a pulse. I really "enjoyed" my son's birth. It was quicker than my daughters, but also because Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata was playing on my tape recorder at the exact moment of him being born. That's a religious experience!

I used to have that problem too (someone hearing you go to the bathroom) and I hated going in public. After my car accident, I have to go every hour, so holding it till I get home is not an option anymore. I just came to the conclusion that we are all in the restroom to do our business and if someone doesn't like hearing me do my business then they can leave the restroom. Anyways, it's usually shallow people that would make any fuss about it.

I am the exact opposite, I can make my own furniture and use power tools but wouldn't want to get in front of people to speak. Boy, am I glad their is variety in people!

and me and my dad can start singing the same song at exactly the same point, at exactly the same time. i think it is because he does the song in the head thing too and he has probably reacted to the same stimuli as me but doing at the exact same time is a bit weird.
