annalice, you hit the nail on the head with your questions. if god is omnimax in abilities, then it is next to inconceivable why he would go about giving info to his subjects in such a pussyfooting sort of way. he would indeed have given us all the info correctly, once, in an undeniable manner that it came from him, and then continually reafirm that the original info is correct. now that would be awesome! can you imagine how many people would be believers and "saved" as a result? skeptics, scientists, hindu's etc etc. but the assumtions that the JW's have about why the light keeps getting brighter, sounds more and more like men just making stuff up as they go along. i put all theism in this box, but perhaps that is not fair. the JW's for sure though.

i am named after a biblical charachter that might never have even existed. and if he did, he is responsible for god decreed genocide. kind of as bad as being named adolf. if i could change my name, i would change it to: a.a #709, or Darwin.

i collect computer viruses and store them on my little linux cluster. sometimes i go back and look at them, but i mostly just name them and file them away. someday, when computers have become way more ubiquitous, and these viruses mean nothing, they may be worth something.

The Only True Church
by danielweatherlee in.
does god have a true church on the earth today?yes, and i will reveal it.it is the free will baptist church, which is true in every sense.they preach jesus, they study god's word correctly and rightly divide the word of truth.they are not led by a distant leader, they are led by their local leader chosen by god.if the sign out front doesn't say free will baptist then you are in the wrong church.look for that sign, and then you've found the right church.

Danielweatherlee,
"so many christians, so few lions."
the end will show who God thought was okay!
mnb77,

The Search For a Paradise Earth
by Farkel inthe one constant in life.
there is only one significant constant in life and that constant is simply: we all die.
no matter how successful we become, we will die.

I believe that there is some sort of powerful being/s out there. But not "sure" what, yet, or if I'll ever find it out in this life. I believe that we will have some sort of after life mainly because that's what I have to believe for me to be happy. Purely emotional reasoning I know. I don't believe that the bible is by the "Divine Higher Powers" (about 99.9% sure on this) but still my mind can change on this with enough "evidence". And you'd have to be pretty damn convincing for me to believe it is. I think that "once saved always saved" is full of crap.
it really sounds to me that right now, if you must catogorize yourself, you sound most like an agnostic (edit: or agnostic/Deist). which is fine! it is probably the most neutral position you can take! from there, there is no shame in becoming a christian or a hindu or staying agnostic. it is a good neutral place to be in order to look out at other belief systems and evaluate them objectively, and yes, even subjectively. in the mean time you can read more about the scientific method, and about theological related subjects like the historicity of the bible or other holy books. you'll do fine. a lot of us have been where you are. just remember, always try to be respectful of others and their worldviews. if an organization steps over that boundary with you, then you should seriously consider being skeptical about what they have to say.
i know, it's a lonely position to be in, especially when you you are just starting the main part of your search. just try to remain logical about it all, and you will find your niche.

Drawing unfair comparisions-Convention talk on Tues night
by Jez intuesdays meeting had a part about the upcoming summer convention.
alot of q n a about how to dress, to wear your lapel at all times, to be clean, to not eat out bec the worldly vendors would be upset that they are not allowed to sell food inside the arena, to watch your language, conduct at the motels, to walk quietly, to not be in the halls during the sessions, informal witness at every opportunity etc.
then this man comments and says, "what other religion would clean up the arena before and after a convention?

good thinking Jez,
i think it is funny how important cleanliness is to them. yet they don't see what a lie they are living internally.
as clean as white washed graves, but on the inside, full of every defilement.
okay, maybe a bit strong, but the double standard glares at me!
