every where you live, the local area has something about it that is either famous for something good or something bad.
as an example, you go to one town and it may have the historial site of a famous war battle.
you go to another an it might be the place something was invented, or the birthplace of someone famous.

every religion in the world has grown via proselytization. i just haven't come across all of them, yet.
i was going to make a list of recent ones i have come across when i realized that everyone i come across is pushing their own religion, including myself.

well who would have thought.
i would recommend everyone should read this.
it's interesting, and dawkins and others would probably disagree, but i see pretty much all of dawkins books doing the same job that the god delusion did, just in different ways. the god delusion is right there in your face philosophically about the concept. but the selfish gene and blind watchmaker (among others) still gave me other reasons to give up the delusion of the abrahamic deity without ever getting into the abrahamic deity per se.
i mean, if we are nothing other than the expression of our genes, it doesn't leave much room for Yohoba.
computo ergo sum? it would seem so, although, at this point, my genes can go screw themselves. ha ha! it's great being a modern human.

i was thinking about this today, as al gore did win the popular vote and lost because of how the electoral college works.
so people like to blame 9/11 on bush, and fahrenheit 9/11 really tried to make it look like bush.
i remember when the movie, "the road to 9/11" came out, clinton was having a fit that it showed the problems with 9/11 started while he was in office.
it doesn't have anything to do with what president is in office. anyone who thinks that the president is actually a worthy focus point of power is not looking hard enough.
it's called the industrial war machine, it's turned america (and the world little by little) into a religion of sacred violence and consumerism, and it's been the dictator in a slowly evolving police state for decades now.

is the us government imperialistic?
is this why they have invaded iraq?
who will be the next victim nation?.

i'm an evolutionist.
one cannot argue that evolution isn't a fact.
however, i'd be interested in the better informed amongst us here explaining in simple terms how the feeling of love evolved.
hi dansk,
we seem to connect with that special someone and it seems lightening runs through our veins.
it's called dopamine. that special "lightening" lasts for 6 to 12 months, and then it is gradually replaced by oxytocin, a chemical implicated in long term bonding relationships. mothers and children produce lots of oxytocin in relation to each other. and some researchers are drawing interesting observations on the relationship status, socially, of people who naturally produce larger amounts of oxytocin. for example, they usually find mates who produce more too, and end up staying together for decades. both chemicals are tied to the greater experience of "love". one gets love going, and the other keeps it going.

i love this quote and often find myself using it on the kids and my dog.
it is from cats and dogs and james earl jones doing the voice over.
"not for you young puppy, for you the war is over".
the last lines from edward scissorhands :
Kim: You see, before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. If he weren't up there now... I don't think it would be snowing. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it.

we were conditioned to believe that our work in jehovah's service was sure to bring about his approval.
though many of us here are no longer witnesses, has this mindset been reflective in your personal work ethics?
do you take your job way, too seriously?
proph,
it's nice to see you again man.
and in regards the thread, TOTALLY. people forget that the western economic system is a religion, and the businesses it's chapels.
