  if he doesn't want to associate himself with the dominant tribe on the piece of land he resides on, that is perfectly his right to do so. it's like being baptized as an infant as a catholic. it doesn't mean you have to stay one! i feel it is one of the ungranted unalienable rights of modern man thus far. the right to leave your tribe and exist, officially, outside of tribedom in individuality, on a political level.

  it's just a piece of dirt dude. the concept of your possesing the authority to remind people that they are ALSO a member of your tribe (americanoid), is an abstraction in your MIND, and therefore not a supra-valid (holy) representation of anything other than and without your mind. i mean to say, that your next door neighbor should be able to be non american (politically), while you remain american.

  lines on a map. it's a sort of hubris to think that they really exist, isn't it? if you followed the one and only line on a map, that of the coast line, you would find that the entire planet is one large island, with one border, our atmosphere.

  hell

  ok, i just got back from going to the movie bridge to tarabithia.. without going into details, the movie touches on the idea of unsaved persons going to hell.. this bothers me a great deal.. i just walked out of a religion that teaches that millions are going to be destroyed for not worshipping god just the right way.. it is amazing how many people really do believe that i and my husband and my fellow pagan friends, will be burning in hell.. how does that differ from armageddon?.

  this was a key reason why i left orthodox christianity behind.

  my sister as well as so many others have lived their own personal hells here on earth, the notion that a person could believe that since they do not believe in jesus as their saviour they will burn in hell is just beyond unsettling.

  i would say: people who believe that other people who do not see the world the way they do will, in turn, burn in a literal hell after they die, are already themselves in a hell.

  elves of the tolkien bent.

  their relationship to trees (nature and the fractal tree-like structure of nature) are inspiring to me. they did not "own". they were stewards of the trees and respected their sacredness.

  and of course, the fact that we find personal representation in mythical creatures (favorites) speaks volumes about us and the creatures themselves.

  the elves represent a tenuous harmony with nature that we must strive to strike.

  so, by "pagan" we mean gods of a certain lineage? or any gods? it's interesting that we find a connection between goddess worship and cannabis, since in the early agricultural part of the neolithic, it was the females who represented mother earth because they knew the ways of the garden better than the hunting men. and so Goddess worship of archtypes like Kali, and her feriousciously sensual canaanite cousin Anath, often involved sacrament usage of cannabis among other things. uh, so Kali is, naturally, my favorite "pagan" god.   The Proof for the Existence of God We realize with our senses only a part of reality, the eyes can only see a certain wavelength, the ears only hear a certain frequency bandwith. Furthermore the reality is interpreted differently from each person. Therefore I can make the statement, that the reality, which is sensed by a person, has a real and an imaginary (dreams, visions, voices) component. Both components are linked to each other, and a root cause in the imaginary reality can cause an effect in the real reality. For example when a person believes in Allah, who exists in his imaginary reality (can not be seen), this person acts differently than a disbeliever, so it has an effect in the real reality. If God was nonexistent, there is the question how he can be the root cause for an effect in the real reality. If there is something nonexistent, which causes an effect, it would be an effect without a root cause, it would be a miracle, because our universe is governed by root cause and effect, which becomes the root cause for another effect and so on, a neverending chain. Therefore it is reasonable that Allah exists, but he exists in an imaginary reality, which is called heaven in the Holy Books. Ralf Biermann

  ralf, if allah exists in an imaginary reality (totally agree with you here!), then would it not also follow that jesus only exists in an imaginary reality? and remember, that it is a non sequitur to state that because humans only see and hear certain spectrums and frequencies, then God must exist in a place that we cannot see or hear. it does not logically follow. it should also be mentioned that the "root cause" is most likely human. which is why so many gods exist in the collective cultures of minds. actually, i would argue that there are as many gods in existence as there have been humans who do and have ever lived. even if a couple million people all believe in "jesus" or "allah", everyone's version is slightly different from the next. qualitatively and quantitatively. meaning that there are probably millions of versions of jesus and allah, respectively. tetra

  i feel it is funny that some people think that the "corner stone" of xianity is the ressurection of jesus. when in reality, original sin and the need for a savior is where it begins.

  if one has good reason to doubt that they are genetically related to two humans (adam and eve) about 6000 years ago, and not to any of the other humans that were alive at the time, then i would venture that "original sin" (and the subsequent need for a savior) is unrequired. therefore it would follow that it doesn't matter if jesus existed, or if he was even close to the person mainstream xians say he was. whether he lived and died and was or was not resurected is sort of beside the point.
