Did anyone try to go to the high school prom ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen ini remember being a high school senior and wanting to go to prom ( i graduated from high school in 2003 ), but prom was forbidden when your a jw teen.
i even said to my parents if i took a witness girl would it be ok; they actually said yes.
i found a girl ( yes she's a witness ) to go with me, but here's the kicker she agreed to go.

why would jehovah need to "rest" in the first place? july 15, 2011 WT
by oompa inthe july 15 wt mentioned how god is still resting...confident that his plan is being worked out.
for some reason i had never thought about why the hell god would even need or want a "rest day"....i mean for crying out loud according wt god only created one thing....da baby jesus.
how boring to let him create everything else.

Mad Sweeney, Nope...1975 was the end of 6000 of the 7000 years of the 7th day. Jesus' reign takes up the last 1,000 years, and then he hands the duties back to the well rested Creator.

I must confess, haven't been real regular at the meetings lately. The wife and I showed up about 3 minutes late, listened to the talk. At the end of the talk, the MC thanked the speaker for presenting the "Special" talk and I turned to my wife and asked.."is this the special talk?" "I guess so," she said.

Today's WT Study Stupidity About Df'ing
by metatron inin today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.

It seemed to me that this article was meant to distract the "friends".
If the "friends" all believe that most disfellowshippings are for unrepentant sinners, then it makes it much easier to shun them. If it's because most just don't believe it anymore, have left the culture, and now live a normal life...well that could cause many more to really "examine" what they believe.

How much do you truly believe you would enjoy living in a perfect world? Paradise...
by stillstuckcruz inwhat sort of conversations could you have in a perfect world?
i have a hard enough time creating conversation in this world.
when i need a conversation topic, i might mention a news story, or some problem such as the price of gas.

Freddy Franz' Unrestrained Mind Control
by Alfred innowadays, the wt knows that it needs to tread gently when they execute their mind control tactics... modern jws now have iphones, facebook and better access to information in general.
so their approach needs to be as subtle as possible.... jws in the 50s and 60s, on the other hand, had nothing but freddys ongoing barrage of guilt-inducing wt articles.
heres a small sample of what jws were exposed to during that time.... ...we shall march forth organized theocratically, knowing organization procedures.

I've changed my attitude about disfellowshipping now. A wonderful comparison was made that made the whole thing a lot more palatable.
Disfellowshipping is a lot like standing your child in the corner...kind of a time out...so that they can think about things. If we keep interupting their "time out" with association, etc., well....what good is it.
Most in the congregation nodded their heads in unison on this one. After all, the illustration came from a Circuit Overseer.
