Kurt does "field service" in a laundromat and is not even a Jehovah's Witness
by kurtbethel inthe recent socal rain storms had me needing to go to a launrdomat to dry some clothes.
so i get inside and see that one of the friendly neighborhood jehovah's witnesses has left a little dish of spiritual food.
being the benevolent soul that i am, i took my handy pen and added some additional spice to the bland spiritual food offered by the watchtower.. .

Living Through the Brief Liberalization of Jehovah's Witnesses, Never Recovering
by TMS inwith the book crisis of conscience detailing the turbulence at bethel during the early to mid 70's, the transformation from autocratic rule to governance by committee or a body of men, many of us can speak to how that felt among the rank and file of the local congregations during those years.
we learned new concepts based in large part to research done for the aid to bible understanding volume, then we were asked or coerced into unlearning those principles, going back to the old ways.
some of us never readjusted, finding ourselves very different from our more hardline compadres.. the inertia for the changes that eventually were initiated in the congregations came from the discovery that the greek words episkopos and presbyteros were used biblically to refer to all qualified men in a congregation, not just one.

I get the sense that the current Witness congregation is a gaggle of lonely individuals, keeping social connections at arm's length...just in case they must shun someday.
Wow, Jgnat. You have a way with "nailing it".

Yeah, the perv, Rod Steiger. Great actor.
I fell in love with Lara.
The cinematic experience, wow.

Gotta go with Lean. Zhivago is my all time favorite. Must be seen on a large screen with a great sound system. Not for the laptop.

All the pain and suffering of those 4 and half million deaths a month will be made up for in the resurection. It will all be forgotten. Jehovah will make up for it in the "New System of Things".

New James Bond Film: Skyfall
by leavingwt ini had an opportunity to see skyfall in the theater yesterday.
it's almost as good as casino royale, with some parts of it being even better.
the opening sequence was a real thrill, one of the best.

I thought it was good. It was all too obviously laying groundwork for a new computer game. Gamers will love it for sure.
