Magic, I disagree with Curt Cobain's opinion on this one.
And Journey-on, thank you for the information about optirectomies. This is great news, and is bound to be a huge benefit to many.
i have noticed that if someone has an opinion that does not go with the flow on this forum they often get insulted and shot down in flames.
i thought this was a discussion forum, but i am sadly dismayed to read so much intolerance of another's opinion.
if you appear to support the jw's in any way, even though people like me may disagree with you, you are entitled to your opinion.

how many non-jw's know exactly what the jw's 'kingdom message' consists of?.
i had a jw tell me that they are known for preaching the 'kingdom message' so i asked him the same thing i am asking the fine people on jwd..
I remember when I was younger, we used to prepare 3 to 5 minute sermons, using several scriptures to stimulate interest. As time has gone on, it's getting to the point where the "publishers" ring the bell, and when the "householder" comes to the door, the "publishers" stand there with the latest brochure facing the "householder" and say: "Well....what do you think?"

I think a lot visit for confirmation of what they already thought about JWs.
this is not a question about attending funerals.
is it permissible for jws to visit the graves of their loved ones if they merely want a moment's reflection on the departed?.
is it permissible for jws to do this on the anniversary of the death?.
Speaking from experience, you absolutely should go visit Granny's gravesite. Spruce it up, remember, talk to her if you feel the need. It's a private matter. Non of the "elder's", or gossipers business.

I have visited. Many of my JW acquaintences do and have. Issues are not normally made of this in the ranks. Sometimes it's more of being in touch with your history, respect for a life spent, etc., than ancestor worship.
