What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?

when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

you would think they may have had a point if i was wearing an iron maiden one but no i was just wearing a plain neutral coloured one.

the real problem was that i had been told by the c.o. to wear a white one so i was 'rebelling'.

few weeks later i was asked by a different c.o. to move to a cong in another circuit...so my p.o. and the other c.o. wrote to the new cong to 'warn' them of my offence and attitude. the p.o of the new hall asked me about it and when i explained he threw the letter away without showing it to the rest of the body.

would you still be a JW?

from coming on here from time to time i notice there is many disfellowshipped ones and alot of those who didnt like their freedoms taken away from them.

ignoring what you have researched and know now how many of you, honestly if there was no disfellowshipping and say you were allowed to have more freedoms such as playing sports, how many of you would still be witnesses?

once again ignore ever coming on here for insight and so forth.

i would never had any reason to question if i had not been wrongly disfellowshipped.

and i never didnt do sports...what do you mean by that

Why I don't want to associate with pioneers

sometimes i get flak for not having more "spiritual" associates.

the reason i don't really care for pioneers is that whatever interests or hobbies they have get replaced by the whole pioneering thing.

they become less like normal people and become more a clone of what a good dub "should" be.

Mary imperfect, Jesus perfect

my husband never ceases to amaze me with the things he asks me.

yesterday night he asked me: why was jesus born perfect when mary was not perfect?

i said to him that it should be the same as having a surrogate mother.

The inspired Record says: “But the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way. During the time his mother Mary was promised in marriage to Joseph, she was found to be pregnant by holy spirit before they were united.” (Mt 1:18) Prior to this, Jehovah’s angelic messenger had informed the virgin girl Mary that she would ‘conceive in her womb’ as the result of God’s holy spirit coming upon her and His power overshadowing her. (Lu 1:30, 31, 34, 35) Since actual conception took place, it appears that Jehovah God caused an ovum, or egg cell, in Mary’s womb to become fertile, accomplishing this by the transferal of the life of his firstborn Son from the spirit realm to earth. (Ga 4:4) Only in this way could the child eventually born have retained identity as the same person who had resided in heaven as the Word, and only in this way could he have been an actual son of Mary and hence a genuine descendant of her forefathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, and King David and legitimate heir of the divine promises made to them. (Ge 22:15-18; 26:24; 28:10-14; 49:10; 2Sa 7:8, 11-16; Lu 3:23-34; see GENEALOGY OF JESUS CHRIST.) It is likely, therefore, that the child born resembled its Jewish mother in certain physical characteristics.
Mary was a descendant of the sinner Adam, hence herself imperfect and sinful. The question therefore is raised as to how Jesus, Mary’s “firstborn” (Lu 2:7), could be perfect and free from sin in his physical organism. While modern geneticists have learned much about laws of heredity and about dominant and recessive characteristics, they have had no experience in learning the results of uniting perfection with imperfection, as was the case with Jesus’ conception. From the results revealed in the Bible, it would appear that the perfect male life-force (causing the conception) canceled out any imperfection existent in Mary’s ovum, thereby producing a genetic pattern (and embryonic development) that was perfect from its start. Whatever the case, the operation of God’s holy spirit at the time guaranteed the success of God’s purpose. As the angel Gabriel explained to Mary, “power of the Most High” overshadowed her so that what was born was holy, God’s Son. God’s holy spirit formed, as it were, a protective wall so that no imperfection or hurtful force could damage, or blemish, the developing embryo, from conception on.—Lu 1:35.
Since it was God’s holy spirit that made the birth possible, Jesus owed his human life to his heavenly Father, not to any man, such as his adoptive father Joseph. (Mt 2:13-15; Lu 3:23) As Hebrews 10:5 states, Jehovah God ‘prepared a body for him,’ and Jesus, from conception onward, was truly “undefiled, separated from the sinners.”—Heb 7:26; compare Joh 8:46; 1Pe 2:21, 22.

Who has lost faith?

i am curious about who (after leaving) went on to other religions vs. lost faith completely.

once i started questioning the wt society, i began to question everything.

as jw's we are taught from childhood up that other religions are false - so it seems easy, after elliminating the last one, to be rid of religion altogether.. .

black pudding ?

whilst befriending the jw family who introduced me to all this, they told me about the blood transfusion issues which i knew already, however i am very partial to consuming black pudding (blood sausage to americans) with my breakfast, although i have not had any since my outlook altered i was just wondering if it is ethical to consume such a culinary delight without any implications.

no you cant eat it

while jws dont go so far as jews in endeavouring to extract every last drop of blood, they do expect a reasonable attempt to be made to let the blood run from the animal..

that would exclude letting the blood run into a bucket and then allowing the contents of the bucket to congeal and be fried for breakfast

Paul's belief in Christ - Lets get it STRAIGHT this time!

i need to vent.

i am sick and tired of people claiming that paul did not believe in the jesus christ of the bible.

there are many articles on the web (someone sent me one today) that claims that paul's writings deny that a historical jesus existed.

never too early to talk football...

liverpool will struggle to beat arsenal and chelsae and then man-u to win the champions league..i think it will be a chelsea - man united final and dare i say it a chelsea win (in russia no less)..

portsmouth look like the team to beat in the f a cup

rangers got a real chance of a quadruple this year...won the league cup on sunday...heading the league with games in hand...and celtic got knocked out the scottish cup last night so nothing for them this year. tougher to win uefa but get past sporting lisbon and its anyones ball game although no doubt bayern munich are the out and out favourites

then there's the euro championship in the summer..no british teams competing so not really bothered who wins..just hope for some good games and the germans to not win....and a better final than the france-italy world cup. (pretty dour apart from zidane's head butt)

shame the british teams can't or won't organize a home international tournie...would be a good one methinks
