Eeeww. I grew up with a mother that could spot a spider the size of an ant from across the room and was petrified. If she EVER saw anything like this, she'd probably have had a heart attack! Forget that, I would have a heart attack! The scream would be heard for MILES!! Prisca, that is really a NORMAL size for Australia? EEEK!!

The witnesses in Sweden are in panic!!!
by YourBadConscience inyesterday, swedens most famous journalist jan josefson, disclosed a pedofile scandal within jehovahs witness churches in sweden.
the show "mission review" was a one hour long execution of the "elderly organisation" within the churches and was really devastating for the witnesses and the chuch in general.
we who saw the show are now convinced that jehovahs witnesses in sweden now better hide themselves than seek new members, because what we saw was both disgusting as well as heartbreaking.

This is where I wish that part of my Swedish heritage included speaking the language! I hope that at least a transcript will be translated into english at some point!

These are not in any particular order, and there are so many more that I really like, but these represent the ones that I have seen repeatedly and enjoy every time.

If you ever Wondered why it is so HARD to Sue WT for being DFed- read this
by JT inin re: your status in the xxxx congregation of jehovah's witnesses, xxxxxxxxx.
e. when a judicial committee handling a case of wrongdoing reaches the conclusion that the unrepentant person would be disfellowshipped, then the committee will speak with the person and let the individual know of their decision to disfellowship him or her from the congregation.
the supreme court in serbian eastern orthodox diocese specifically held that the first amendment prohibits civil court inquiry into matters of internal church discipline.

My take on this is that they are saying that upon baptism, one is entering a legal contract to submit to the rules of the organization and whatever consequences they choose to dole out. I look at this letter, and it tells me that since I was a minor when I was baptized, I was therefore unable to enter into any binding contract. Wouldn't that fact void on a technicality any implied consent to be governed by their rules or submit your life to them? I personally consider my baptism void simply because I was not given information with which to make an informed decision regarding what I was agreeing to, in addition to the fact that I was a minor. But I would think that in court, if they were up against someone who was a minor when giving this so called consent to submit to their rules, that the argument of entering a contract might be harder to win for them.

Laws to Protect the Stupid People
by tyydyy inhave you ever noticed how many laws there are to protect the stupid people?
take the seat belt law for instance, smart people know to buckle themselves in.
we are now interfering with evolution by protecting stupid people from themselves.

I know that is not a law, but it is along the same lines of stupidity.

I love the ones on frozen pizza boxes that tell you to remove the plastic and cardboard before baking. But I suppose that if they have to put that on the box, there must be someone out there dumb enough to try to cook it that way!

While A Witness, Did You Ever Date A "Worldly Person"?
by minimus inhow many here ever dated a "worldly" person, while still a jw?
-
caligirl
Yes, but they were very short lived relationships! Not much to go on when they can't call you, and you can't actually see them outside of school. I did almost get caught making out in the hallway by a witness teacher (who studied with my father.)

I say wear it - it sounds beautiful. Besides, the only ones who will say anything negative are likely to be the ones who are too timid to wear anything beyond basic navy and are simply jealous that you look so good. Just give a nice saccarine smile to anyone who dares to criticize you to your face if they think it is inappropriate and say " Thank you" as if they have given you a compliment. Throws them every time!

A little Monday Morning fun
by caligirl ini just got back from the doctors, where i decided to entertain myself a bit.
the waiting room was not too crowded, and i spotted a few recent copies of the watchtower and awake on the magazine table.
so i broke out my pen, and left a message on the inside of each of the magazines.

Since they were current April issues, I did wonder if one of the receptionists planted them, and I wanted to be inconspicuous about whatever I did with them. The garbage can was not convenient, so I decided against chucking them. I also did not really want to be seen handling them, so I put them inside another magazine while I wrote my little public service messages. The same old stuff, the awake was on teens & drug use with some nauseating article with an alleged "quote" about how daddy always kept this person busy with spiritual pursuits to "protect" them. That little snippet was about all I could handle to read.

I just got back from the doctors, where I decided to entertain myself a bit. The waiting room was not too crowded, and I spotted a few recent copies of the Watchtower and Awake on the magazine table. So I broke out my pen, and left a message on the inside of each of the magazines. Each now bears a slightly different version of " This magazine is printed by a cult. Please carefully research cults and who might be vulnerable to them if anything you read here sounds remotely reasonable." In addition, in one, I wrote "I was a member of this harmful cult for 24 years. Please do not let them trap you" And in another I wrote " Ask the next witness who knocks at your door why they protect pedophiles." Who knows how long they will be left there, but my messages will greet them right on the top of page one if they are curious enough to open them up.
