"Normal family affections and dealings" continue - If only?!?
by LHS123 ini am new to this forum - it is only a couple of weeks since i have allowed myself to acknowledge and research my doubts.
i am trying to be fair by reading both sides of the story and considering jw official explanation of confusing matters.

I agree. I too had to escape rather abruptly. It was as a teenager. No help, no family to go to. I sincerely encourage people who have time to come up with an exit strategy. In other cases, you have to do what you have to do. I've spent a lifetime trying to heal from the trauma of escaping and not having any family. Regardless, there seems to be a lot more help and advice available today, thankfully.

Lurette,It's "the best of times and the worst of times". There may be tremendous highs and lows. For most, there are vast similarities and differences depending on individual backgrounds and past treatment. I'm sure most would agree, in time the relief wins out over the fear but sometimes the fear becomes anger. There will be many stages to deal with.You must put together a support group. Remember, not all worldly people are your friends. Not all exjw's are your friends.I think what you are feeling is normal for someone deciding to leave the org. Can you share what made you realize TTATT? -

Embarrassing relatives.
by Xanthippe inmy cousin phoned yesterday to tell me my jw sister sent her a sympathy card for her husband's death and tucked inside there was something else, she lowered her voice.
what was it i wondered?
a nice letter, pictures of her new grandchild (she lives many miles away)?

I could relate to your post as well. I was never disfellowshipped but shunned regardless. I really did think I was adopted because I never had anything in common with the so called "family" since childhood. I've had very little contact with them over a lifetime. When I did they came across as "pod people". I don't think they are human anymore. Perhaps taken over by some alien species! They are only normal to each other.Link +2 / -0 -

They have a table at the local Walmart now
by life is to short inomg i just heard this morning that they have a table set up at the local walmart, so i had to drive by.
it is huge with two huge signs one spanish and one english of blown up pictures of some of the book covers like you can live forever and young people ask, etc with a card table in the middle and two very boarded looking people just sitting there.
this morning was the spanish congo's turn but the walmart is in my halls territory so the english speaking ones from my hall will man it on the english speaking times i guess.

Federal prisoner, child of active JW, could be my grandchild?
by FatFreek 2005 ini recently learned of the possibility that my son has a love child and that this child is in prison.
the child was born in the early 80s.
i learned that my ex-wife and her parents may have paid a large sum of money to the young mother (and others) in order to keep this scandal out of the press and perhaps out of earshot of the local elders.
