  "Normal family affections and dealings" continue - If only?!?

  i am new to this forum - it is only a couple of weeks since i have allowed myself to acknowledge and research my doubts.

  i am trying to be fair by reading both sides of the story and considering jw official explanation of confusing matters.

  one of the issues i have been looking at is shunning - and i was shocked to see the misleading information about shunning on the jw.org website: .

  whenever we visit the board we see a lot of angst among jehovah's witnesses who are just learning the tatt (the truth about the truth).

  hey, don't feel bad, we had it at one time ourselves.

  "angst means fear or anxiety (anguish is its latinate equivalent, and anxious, anxiety are of similar origin).

  I agree. I too had to escape rather abruptly. It was as a teenager. No help, no family to go to. I sincerely encourage people who have time to come up with an exit strategy. In other cases, you have to do what you have to do. I've spent a lifetime trying to heal from the trauma of escaping and not having any family. Regardless, there seems to be a lot more help and advice available today, thankfully.

  I believe that's where my older sister was baptized. The convention was so large it spilled over onto the Polo Grounds. The religious fervor was at an all time high.

  
  

  I remember stories of eating meals from vending machines. The over easy eggs for breakfast were not a hit!

  Lurette,

  It's "the best of times and the worst of times". There may be tremendous highs and lows. For most, there are vast similarities and differences depending on individual backgrounds and past treatment. I'm sure most would agree, in time the relief wins out over the fear but sometimes the fear becomes anger. There will be many stages to deal with.

  
  

  You must put together a support group. Remember, not all worldly people are your friends. Not all exjw's are your friends.

  Embarrassing relatives.

  my cousin phoned yesterday to tell me my jw sister sent her a sympathy card for her husband's death and tucked inside there was something else, she lowered her voice.

  what was it i wondered?

  a nice letter, pictures of her new grandchild (she lives many miles away)?

  I could relate to your post as well. I was never disfellowshipped but shunned regardless. I really did think I was adopted because I never had anything in common with the so called "family" since childhood. I've had very little contact with them over a lifetime. When I did they came across as "pod people". I don't think they are human anymore. Perhaps taken over by some alien species! They are only normal to each other.

  They have a table at the local Walmart now

  omg i just heard this morning that they have a table set up at the local walmart, so i had to drive by.

  it is huge with two huge signs one spanish and one english of blown up pictures of some of the book covers like you can live forever and young people ask, etc with a card table in the middle and two very boarded looking people just sitting there.

  this morning was the spanish congo's turn but the walmart is in my halls territory so the english speaking ones from my hall will man it on the english speaking times i guess.

  i'm in contact with service and writing and brochure first step there bleeding publishers they can't take it anymore publishers are depressed because they feel they must shun others and they know it's unloving.

  Why so much criticism regarding writing ability? Not everyone here has English as their first language. Question the content w/o being demeaning toward command of English. It is difficult for some people to reach out. No need to make it harder.

  Federal prisoner, child of active JW, could be my grandchild?

  i recently learned of the possibility that my son has a love child and that this child is in prison.

  the child was born in the early 80s.

  i learned that my ex-wife and her parents may have paid a large sum of money to the young mother (and others) in order to keep this scandal out of the press and perhaps out of earshot of the local elders.

  FatFreek, Can you possibly contact a lawyer or private investigator to do the leg work for you? I'm sure they have experience with these issues.
