What songs got you through good or tough times?
by jojochan ini've been in an upbeat mood lately.
i don't know if it's all the exercise that i'm doing or what but i've not been moody all 3 weeks.one thing that i've noticed, is that i've listened to certain songs that made me forget about "her" and move on with bigger and better things.
when i was depressed i listened to some songs from tool, some from the cure, barbra manning, the old babyface songs, some from sade, sweetback, and maxwell and everything but the girl.

stuff i think about...
by bluebeads in->is it fair/just/loving that innocent children be punished for their parent's wrongdoings etc...?
a passage from the new book released @ the dc p.131-2.
"(malachi 4:1) in that day of accounting, young children (boughs) will be dealt with justly according to jehovah's assessment of their parents (roots), who are responsible for minor children.

the whole "but what about the children" thing was one of my earliest mental wedges i had that led to my eventual leaving, one of the first logic bombs. began with the friends i had at the hall, kids of the "fringe" members, spread to the general populace in terms of the children of ppl who said no at the door and finally came to rest at the door of the first woman i loved and her child (worldy girlfriend,...)
any god who would kill millions of innocents can go f*** it's asexual self. -

when all i have around me are wolves, i am afraid
when i hear of children dying of hunger, i am sad
when i hear there is enough food out there, i am angry
when i think only of myself, i am miserable
when i smile at someone i don't know for no reason, i am connected
when i remind myself of all the good things i have, i am content
when i can share something good, i am happy
when i am with friends, i am strong
and fear no wolf from without or within -

Confused..
by chry214 in(long but please read, i need some advice..thanks) .
let me start off by telling you a little bit about me.
i'm 21 years old, my family(all except an uncle who was disfellowshiped) is dedicated to beliefs of the jehovah witness', or the 'truth'.

You're in love with someone who truly loves you. What isn't possible? Take care of it, trust in it and believe in it. lIFe is short, the cUp is half full, these are not the droids you're looking for, etc.

The quickest, best way to have a Witness open their eyes to being a cult
by free2beme inmy sister was probably one of the most loyal witnesses out there.
all her responses were pulled right from the watchtower thinking, "sorry you feel that way, but i believe jehovah's witnesses are god's people.
" well in time we came to an agreement, "you do not bring up your negative thoughts on the religion, and i will not try to get you to come back to the religion.

I agree with what you've said about the org and the tactics of it's members.
I grew up in dubland and left in my teens, 20 years ago, disassociated only.
Both parents are still in and will be for life. My mother has had various times where she's fallen away and has a spotty attendance record at best but is dub heart and soul. The social net and association is what brings her back, what keeps her head up, what gives her hope, despite anything i've said. She didn't have a family growing up, was abused and is an alcoholic. The org gave her the structure and rules she needed to change her life, of course to "fit in". My dad is in because of her, because of the changes it made in her life and because of me.
They joined as adults and are happy with their life and association and the purpose it gives them. They still leave pamphlets for me with key pages and passages noted and little notes about being "so close to the end", et al. I've asked them not to do this but they do it out of love, as misguided as the message is, the intent is pure. This still hits me like a emotional bolt from time to time, even to this day and i find it hard to deal with them sometimes. Over the years, I've tried so many ways to open their eyes and we've gone through much in our relationship but i am glad we have one. I feel for those here who don't, it is sad. "Don't cry for the family that wasn't, smile for the one you will have"
I don't try to change them anymore. Tonight we had dinner and they showed me some old photos from their early days and reminisced. We talked of little things, laughed at the tv and spent time. I had a moment where i almost broke down but they didn't catch it. I hugged my mother and told her i loved her. Despite all the f***** up stuff in their lives, they made a life together, better than some and they raised a good son (for the most part, lol).
Maybe one day they will see. Until then, i will love them as best i can and try to honour them as a good son should. -

Weird Logic
by loosie inlet's hear the weirdest comment or suppossed logical thought you've ever heard a witness say.. i'll start: out in service once a sis and her son were in the same car group as i was.
he was having a nose bleed and told his mom that the blood was running down the back of his throat.
his mother said " well don't swallow it yo uknow how jehovah feels about blood don't you!".

Hmm,
Well, back when I wuz a teen, a dub friend of the family related a story of how her aunt was unsure of whether or not she was of the anointed and if she should partake of the symbols. She prayed to J to send her a sign. No sign appeared that convinced her one way or another. She prayed again and asked that if she had an accident (such as breaking a limb) this would indicate that she was NOT to partake. No sign appeared. She then declared her new status as anointed.
