now that you realise how idiotic some of the jw beliefs are/were, do you feel ashamed of how gullible you were to believe them?.
if anything my past as an adult jw makes me understand how easily manipulated people are by the people and environment around them.
and that even intelligent people can be influenced beyond what is rational..
It's not a bad thing to feel as such necessarily. A catalyst for change.
Forgiving oneself and moving on. Such simple and sublime words, seemingly elusive but dynamic and attainable.
i mean no disrespect to sd-7 or his fine thread on which this picture has already featured, but i think it is just so ridiculous that it deserves a thread all of its own.. lurkers and apologists, this is how your precious organization views itself.... behold the madness.... .

nobody in my immediate family has, as far as i know.
there seems to be an unwritten rule against them among the witnesses.
(or maybe a written rule i'm not aware of).
I always thought therapists were like mechanics; You just keep going back for the rest of your life so you don't fall apart.
Not so much. More like a repair when things don't work and maybe a tune up if needed. The idea is to get you back on your feet and give you the tools to maintain your own conveyance, as it were. It's not and shouldn't be a crutch.
I'm not speaking of those who've severe psych disorders. Just everyday people who need some fixin' with something they can't fix on their own.

Yes and it was very helpful
It was a few years after exiting and I had hit a wall in a few ways, lost in others. A skip in a storm. So I saw a behavioral therapist who specialized in addictions and who had some experience with the jws, two of my favorite topics at the time ;) My first real education in critical thinking and analysis and it was good to have an objective and trained professional offer insights and suggestions on complex issues. I saw him for a few years then and a few later on and will always remember the discussions and lessons learned.
RIP Dr. K
why is it so many of us have a problem making our licks clinkable?.
Well played Watson, well played.
all believers in god begin with the premise that he is the creator.. but-stop!.
go back one step.
what about before god was a creator.. creation is the "beginning" for the created--but--not for god.. .
If time were real it would move in more than one direction.
It doesn't.
If you get some time go to Wiki and enter the words: Arrow of Time
Interesting link and ideas.
Kinda reminds me of this youtube video
In one part, the author describes one's existence as a "timeline" where our physical self exists not as a single state but as a whole, from birth to death. To paraphrase, all that you were and will be, you are; you're only able to perceive single frames in the movie of your life. It presents some causual paradoxes and philosophical issues, such as that accident which will end your life is unavoidable, with innumerable elements and choices coming together that make it happen and that free will and choice are illusions as well, among others. Interesting though.
life come from the living, and this is a universe of life.
his teachings are truth.
which is why i weight it against the truth of the teachings (and one other thing that i will get to).
I saw the Lord on a piece of toast the other day. Evidence to some
To me, it was a better with some homemade honey. It was, after all, just toast.
for the record, i don't think a person should be able to use "assault weapons" or "machine guns" or "rocket launchers".
i do think guns should be allowed.
but certainly not everyone is "qualified" to use a firearm.. even if you legally, rightfully can have a weapon, it doesn't mean that a "kook" wouldn't steal it and use it in a nefarious way.. i am convinced that you could take licenses away from drinkers and they still could get behind the wheel and wreak havoc.. you could ban switchblades and gun silencers and people will still find a way to quickly slice you up or muffle a sound.. you could ban or try to curtail cough medicines and people will still find a way to get high.. we cannot, government cannot---control what people will do.
Justin Bieber almost got kidnapped, abused and killed by some nut jobs.
Damn....
If a crazed person sets out to kill or maim, they often will.
True. But in Justin's case, it's expected and precautions are taken. Celebrities are magnets for the ill of mind it seems.
One wouldn't think such threats should exist at a school.
we have 9 guns for every 10 people in this country.
since more guns = better protection, i keep asking myself why there is so much gun violence here ???.
i don't see such violence in canada, australia, europe, japan and other so-called "advanced" countries.. what is wrong with us here.

Good question.
I don't see such violence in Canada, Australia, Europe, Japan and other so-called "advanced" countries.
The stats presented seem to corroborate this. And it doesn't seem any of them are becoming fascist states because the poplulace isn't armed.
What is wrong with us here. If everyone here had 2 guns instead of 1 would that make us safer? Again, what is wrong with us here in the USA?
Questions that as yet seem unanswered
