There is something to tradition and history, respect for a larger community in a sense.
I think it's cool.

when i first came to this site.
whenever i would try to talk about somethign from the bible that the jw's got wrong or reason on a scripture that had so much feeling you would stomp all over it.
talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance.
Fascinating...
this may have been talked about already, but i didn't see anything.
i was doing some research and keep seeing ole charley's name on this list.
it does make sense though, the more i think about it......
You'd think it's obvious but apparently not.
YES THERE ARE PUPPET MASTERS AND POWER BROKERS
ALWAYS HAVE BEEN, ALWAYS WILL BE
MOST PEOPLE DON'T CARE
The question is, why does it bother you, if it does?
And if you could remove the power structure, what would/could you replace it with?

Have there been conspiracies involving 2, 3, maybe a dozen people throughout history? Undoubtedly.
Are there conspiracies that would require hundreds or thousands of people keeping their mouths shut for decades, as would be needed for the wilder conspiracy theories related to 9/11, Kennedy assassination, etc.? Not so much.
Agreed. The moon landings are a case in point
As for ad hominems, that works both ways from what I've seen. "Sheeple" or "shill" aren't compliments and anyone who's played these cards and points fingers is just a plain hypocrite or has a masters degree in self deception
i am infp.. some former witnesses in my hometown had a meetup last night...alas, only four of us.
but it turned out we had an infp(me), two infjs, and an enfp.
therefore, it turned out we were all idealists.
INTJ, which is fairly accurate
perhaps, you're a fan of tv, perhaps, you're not.
maybe, you like some aspects of it and not others.. my favorite tv hates are 'news', and commercials.
i always mute the commercials.
It's all been downhill since The Man Show and Most Extreme Elimination Challenge were cancelled.

Haven't had TV for a few years now. Don't really miss it, maybe the odd show or special on cable. Never cared for primetime or sports. I usually browse news online now
My movie collection has grown however...
i've been officially accused of "thinking too much".. i've tried to quit thinking, but i'm hoplessly addicted to it.i just can't seem to turn my brain off.. at times duing my school years i was accused of not thinking enough.
now i'm guilty of thinking too much!.
the brother even went on to say "could you imagine what the witness organisation if everyone was thinking independently like you do"?
Pass the soma please
so on friday all day, the mic guy did a bang up job.....until david splane got to the podium.
it looked like he discussed how the mic should be set up for him, then finally when the mic guy was walking away david says " well im glad we got that settled".
then today same thing, he got the mic guy to readjust the mic for him again.
RE the OP
A good speaker makes the sound guy their friend, not a scapegoat or court jester. This one sounds like another pompous knob drunk on his own self importance. He should have a countryman gaff taped to his skull...
Rule of thumb for mic distance; 4 to 6 inches away just under the chin when yer head is up is standard practise.
Closer will get you more gain and a low end boost with directional dynamic mics due to proximity effect.
Condenser mics are more sensitive and are susceptible to plosives, the popping of Ps and Ts. Back off a bit if it happens.
In either case, a properly placed and tuned system is more key than any mic etiquette foibles
It really comes down to the timbre of the voice and how well the speaker projects.
once when i was profoundly sad for too many days, my brother in law sent us a mix tape.
he named each song after a person in our family.
this is the one he named heather.
