  i am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.

  i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.

  it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

  Some good comments re empathy. They say you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Methinks they are right more often than not.

  I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  Understandable. I recall feeling hate for the word and what it meant. Now I find the word has no effect. And I like that.

  Amazing talent

  I wish I had piano lessons from early on; such a "complete" instrument. Playing bass in rock band was/is fun but not the same level of musical expression.

  Should I associate with this person?

  so there is a guy who wants me to associate with him.

  but there are some strange things about him, such as:.

  he hears "direction from unseen" forces.. he thinks the idea of slavery was ok.. he likes killing animals and splashing their blood around and making huge bonfires of carcasses smoke all day long.. he has one wife, or maybe two, but is ok with having lots of other sleeping partners as well.. he likes another person who slept with his own daughters.. he thinks women should be subservient and "keep their place".. he frowns on education.. he thinks killing in a war is ok if they deserve it...even babies should be killed.. he is often asking for money.. he thinks that pyramids foretell the future, and that only a few people can explain divine truths to him, except their explanations have changes many, many times...often contradicting other teachings.... etc..... get it?

  Yea Leolaia and Narkissos were both excellent at debate, very articulate and interesting to read. Some very thought provoking posts and a genuine, considerate approach to discussion.

  I recall other posters such as AlanF, Farkel, FunkyDerek and Hillary Step also being formidable in debate.

  Cofty's "Problem of Evil" thread is an epic one, as is Viviane's "What is Spirit?"
