One of my hobbies is recording original music with either of the two bands i play in. I've got a Roland SI24 8 track interface/control surface and use Sonar on the PC, various plugins (Waves Native Bundle DX plugins for mixing and Isotope Ozone for mastering)
Just finished one CD for one project with another in the mastering stage. I'm thinking of switching software to Cubase or perhaps ProTools (SI24 supports both protoccols)
Anyone out there have the same hobby? What do u use/recommend/advise against in terms of software? Pro and cons. How bout tips and tricks for mixing and mastering?

by drew sagan indon't know if anybody put this up here yet or not.

oh yea,
the folks have CNN on constantly and whenever i visit, they can't help but make some comment about the "state" the world is in and how close to the end we are. with the situation in Israel lately, they have the news on every tv they have, even if they're not watching. sometimes i'll grab the remote and switch to something enjoyable, something we can laugh about. -

What has this board given to you?
by Crumpet inhaving cooled down a bit in the garden i got to thinking about what this board has given me and wondered what anyone else feels they have gained from it.. for me its been invaluable and even life changing:.
1) freedom from the brainwashing - when i came here i had already read ray franz's books and still believed it jws had the truth - hat i was basically worthless and that i would die at armageddon.
the reasoned conversations and help of the posters from all over the world has enabled me to have freedom of thought - something i didnt even know i didnt have until i spent time here.. 2) friends who empathise and know from an experience what i have been through in a way outsiders can never possiby understand.. 3) entertainment - unbelievable laughs and moments of humour that have cheered me up so many times.. 4) association - via the aposta bbqs and telephone chats i can now have so i don't feel so isolated and to some extent alleviates the awful pain of separation from my loved family.. 5) information - from this board and posters here i have found out things that were my right to know but would never have learnt otherwise - my sisters marriage, my aunts tragic death.. 6) reunions - i have now met at least one person who knows me from my childhood and has grown into a man of such kindness and patience that i would have missed out on completely had he not been here and been kind enough to hold my hand - even when i've been an irritating totured little idiot!.

I signed up here over a year ago and lurked a bit at first but avoided this site until now. I was involved in another site last year which was my first exposure to online xdub discussion boards. I was amazed at how much i needed to identify, vent and work out some deeply ingrained issues and how much a board helped with this. I have no doubts that i am not alone in this and know this board is that for many people, past, present and future.
I like the range of topics and the amount of information available here and admire the knowledge, wisdom and camaraderie of the posters here. It's good to have "friends" who understand and i look forward to making a few here. It's kinda like u know me already ;-)

LOL, good one
I had a couple of older dub women call on me a couple times a few months back. They didn't know who i was and i didn't let on that i was born and bred dub. It was the first time I actually talked to someone in service instead of ignoring them and I rather enjoyed playing the part of the "worldly householder". I let them pitch and we talked for awhile. Playing devil's advocate (no pun intended) and countering their statements was kinda fun actually. I am a return visit and the last time round, they asked if it was ok if they brought a couple brothers to answer some of my questions. I said sure, (bring out the big dub guns). Should be interesting,...lmao -

Who are you looking for?
by Effervescent indo you find yourself scanning the posts of new ones here hoping in the back of your mind that it's a friend or relative who has finally "seen the light"?.
there are several people i am always watching for.... my best friend from high school, the only friend i was allowed to have since she was the only girl my age in the kh.
and my brothers... extremely bright and intelligent guys, but very wrapped up in gaining my fathers and the congregations approval.

Funny
I sometimes wonder if i would come across a couple friends from when i was a dub kid, Joel and Janine McIntosh. They moved to Mississauga and we lost touch. I'm sure they both would've left.
But of course, anyone from those days would be cool. -
