the bible is the product of hs and when the body prays and uses the bibles qualifications for older men in the context of the perspective candidate hs is involved in his approval or disapproval.

then when the co passes the recommendation on the gb (or who ever actually makes the decision) these spirit appointed men are influenced by hs.. all well and good, the only problem is, it does not work.

Taken on face value The phrase "Spirit appointed" has the obvious conotation that the appointed man is appointed or not on the direct involvement of Holy Spirit.
The appoinment by holy spirit idea of "Spirit appointed" is a very loose link indeed and is very overplayed. This is how it really goes: Bible is takn as Spirit inspired, the Bible is used as qualifier for appoinment, = appointment based on Spirit inspired texts at best. Basing appointment on texts taken as spirit inspired is then turned to being "Spirit Appointed" with all the typical excessive literalism we normally see. God I'm going anti aren't I?

my wife is involved with jws, and i want to find out what they believe, things they do or will not do, that i can present to her in the hope that it will convince her that the jw lifestyle is not for her.

i found out a few things already, like blood and yoga which i told her about, but she was unphased.

("i've never needed a transfusion before anyway, and besides, they told me that doctors have blood substitute now".

Just to redress the balance a bit on that LONG list LOL: :)
"Become a Police Officer", err, YES you can. (depends on any oaths of allegience being required or not)
"Have any job with a gun", err, YES you can. (but just don't expect to be used in the cong much, individual must accept possiblity of becoming bloodguilty if he has to use the weapon, e.g Police officer in the line of duty)
Plus some of the the other stuff there that are mostly matters of conscience, local custom / taste etc. ... wearing combats (all the rage in the UK about 3 years ago), skirt length, movies etc. After all brothers in some island nations wear what we westerners would consider to be "skirts", local custom / taste makes them acceptable there, but they would not be acceptable here, so blunt generalisations (which I myself am very good at) do not always convey facts.
But, what I didn't see much of on that list was SPIRITISM (in all it's many and subtle forms), the occult, and such like. (I have a bit of a thing about this as you maybe can tell) LOL

- clandestine involvement with the un as an ngo.

has the watchtower officially stated this?

That WT article was actually the day text for a couple of days ago and I read it (yep I do do it now and again but tend to read about 1 weeks worth each go) thinking exactly that, ......THAT IS SURELY A THINLY VEILED HINT AT 2034!!
Either that, or it was VERY poor editing to have the apparent tie in there. The days text for June 11 actually quoted those exact paragraphs and highlights from the paras 6 and 7. NOT very clever I thought. But then to do so again in a days text means it is not an accident of editing, ....but that they ARE stressing that very point I would have thought.

I assume it's the same program in the US as it will be here in the UK so doubt it matters too much where the program is from.
If anyone has been already you can of course feel free to state your impressions, depressions on it etc.
WHy do I want to know? 'cause I want to know if and what to go to and if and what to avoid! LOL and just to increase my chances a bit, ....you would be rendering a great service and it would be much appreciated.
