tijkmo - once again I am amazed at how closely your experience matched mine. Except i couldn't stick around once I was reinstated and chose to remove myself.

I really appreciated how you explained the df'ing process, because it took me years to understand why i was so devastated. "I do not know why I was disfellowshipped...nobody is disfellowshipped for wrongdoing. They are removed for being a wicked unrepentant wilful wrongdoer and I was none of these things".

it is so difficult to be a person who considered themselves loyal to the organization, loving jah, trying to do the right thing, etc., yet be labelled as a "wicked unrepentant wilful wrongdoer" who people must avoid in case they are tainted by your evil-ness. It is so wrong, and it destroys your soul.

I've managed to work through a lot of it, but it is still extremely painful, even 15 years later. I hope you can find peace with yourself, tijkmo - things do get better over time.

hi debbie..you are absolutely not wrong about that

im really sorry it has taken you so long to come to terms with it...i have been doing ok since finding support here..although i still have bad days..just not so many

and just recently i was thinking along the same lines as yourself about the effect of df-ing esp when it is clearly the wrong decision even by their own criteria...that the effect of two (doesnt have to be a unanimous decision on a jc) people getting it wrong is that 6 million people worldwide must treat you with contempt whether they want to or not...and even if they personally know that the decision is wrong and you are definately not the person the commitee are saying you are..

what also disgusted me when i eventually got reinstated was that i found out that one of the other elders told the jc they were wrong about their decision and the chairman tony boyland used his friendship with the circuit overseer brian scott to have him removed..(the brother was devastated)

and this all at the direction of the holy spirit...i think not

tijkmo of the you know who you are you know what you did class

I think it shows above all else how much conviction you had to 'clear your name', that you kept going back and going back. Shows immense courage too. I guess tho, that once you are 'marked' its very difficult, if not impossible to free yourself from it.

Thanks for posting this - I'm sure your experience will be familiar to many. It is hurtful to be dfed when you are in fact repentant. I believed the reason for this is that its a) to make an example of you particularly when the offender is an elder and b) because they don;t believe you are trul repentant.

this all at the direction of the holy spirit

Of course if there was such a thing as holy spirit and if they were being guided by it then they would know the true nature of your condition. Its just further proof that they are nothing more than buddy-appointed humans who have less idea about people's motives and sincerity than Miss Marple.

Excellent job on the letter tijkmos and thanks for posting IP.

If you have ever had the "privilege" of serving as an elder you see so much of this back-handed, hypocritical behavior that it amazes me that any elder stays in this cult. If you did serve as an elder and don't remember any of this taking place you either were clueless (amazingly even PO's can be) or you were not kept in the "good ole boys club" CO ass kisser's loop. The 4 BOE's I served on all had petty, childish, downright nasty things taking place on a regular basis..... holy spirit, I don't think so!
