OK, the "official" line is death is the response and punishment for sin, unless you make it through the big "A". Then you are forgiven. But all the of the "remnant" have to die to receive their "heavenly reward." As far as the resurrection goes, the emphasis is now...believe in it because you will most likely, die on this side of "A". DF'd and DA's will be resurrected as well, unless the "sin against the spirit." Which translates to, any thing apostate. Thus adding to the fear of "apostates" mentioned here many times.

Resurrection thread
by mjarka911 ini seen a lot of emphasis on the resurrection in the borg recently like the dc talk preparing people for dying in "this system" and calling them presumptious for thinking otherwise and the recent wt study articles.
but does the borg still teach that death is the wages of sin.
does this appply to people df'd and da'd who die?

Live8
by andy2tanx inwhat with the job i do and possibly my internal make-up, its really quite rare that i see something that i find moving.
however, seeing bob geldof bring on the beautiful african lady who had 10 minutes left to live 20 years ago, who has now finished her agricultural degree in africa and has grown up due to live aid's efforts, i felt i had to post something here...
so if you haven't been to www.live8live.com and signed the electronic petition then stop whatever you're doing and do it now!!!!!

OMG! When does it end? Cognitive Dissonance is pandemic!
by upside/down ini just had a "sister" leave our house... she was getting her hair done, by my wife.... she is married to a demoted-elder and is very r&f... her poor hubby has been on the receiving end of so much abuse from the borg... and they "don't understand it".. i've been sowing seeds of "new light" with her from jwd and even though their sitch just keeps getting worse and worse and her hubby just keeps getting more and more depressed... she actuall laid on me today the old " but where else can we go?
only the wts has the truth".. i thought i was going to puke.... she even laid out the old " don't forsake the gathering of yourselves"...proof we need to be at the meetings.
even though she admits that that is where the source of all the abuse eminates.

The problem is, the R&F have this implanted terrified fear of anything apostate. ANYTHING that causes doubt, they are taught to run from. The challenge is, how to overcome that fear. The dub's do away with reason and rational thought. I'm in college now, if there is something in class I don't understand, I research and study it MORE. The dub view is to write it off as being "food for mature ones" and your understanding will come in time, the last thing they do is research. If you overcome that fear, you can help rescue them.

A couple more after thoughts, BTW great responses!! Sunday there was a "symposium" on the new (dumbed down) book. There were parts on how to use it to obtain studies on the initial visit in service and how to study from it. The "how to study" part was pretty interesting, the main thought...STICK TO THE BOOK!!! Also, if any additional research is needed refer the the "bible encyclopedia, Insight books".
Katiekitten here's one you'll like. There was also a talk on "happy family life." It was a 30 min part, one minute on how husbands can honor their wives, and 29 min's on wives honoring their husbands. What I thought was funny and sad, is too look around and see all the women with a blank stare and all the "brother's" nodding their heads in agreement.
More thoughts to come.............

or is it more along the lines of the WTBS script and what they want?
Funny you should ask. A few talks like the "Keynote address" and the "public talk' are in fact a script to be read word for word.

First they should have changed "Godly Obedience" to "Society Obedience". I have never heard obey the GB pushed so hard in all my years as I dub. It was amazing. There was a talk about the "faithful slave." I believe the view has changed again, I paid very good attention to this one. The "remnant" was only mentioned once as being part of the "organization" but the main part of the slave was said to be the GB. One quote really hit me, they were talking "food at the proper time" and the speaker said "our only job is to eat, the GB and the slaves job is to feed us." Translation. eat everything question nothing.
And what I've heard is correct, major push against "higher education". This was pushed in some form or manner everyday.

How do you feel, relieved or sad?
by jula71 inive been doing a bunch of reflecting and pondering> im just seeing if anyone else has been feeling this and/or if its common.
relieved that i have a new found freedom, free to pursue goals and dreams i never could as a dub.
free from the guilt, always feeling god is watching waiting from me to screw up so he can erase my name from the book of life.

I'd like to thank all of you guys !!! you really are making this transition easier for me. It's just a struggle, having believed in something for so long then to realize, it never was there. It's just difficult at times. But I'm back in school and going full time this fall. that occupying my time will make the transition ever better for me. Thanks guys !!!

I’ve been doing a bunch of reflecting and pondering> I’m just seeing if anyone else has been feeling this and/or if it’s common. I feel relieved. Relieved that I have a new found freedom, free to pursue goals and dreams I never could as a dub. Free from the guilt, always feeling “god is watching” waiting from me to screw up so he can erase my name from the “book of life.” But the future for me looks bright. But I feel a sadness. Sometimes a bit overwhelming. A sadness that there is no “paradise.” I spent years as a dub, not only because I was raised one, but because I wanted to be there. It was a beautiful dream. Who wouldn’t want that? But a little digging and it was gone! Who else feels like that? How do you handle it?

Evidence for the Exodus?
by Cardinal Fang inone for the historians here...
was round visiting my jw mother and bro (who stays with my folks when he's in the area working) the other night.
the conversation swung round to a documentary they'd been watching on video earlier that evening, supposedly putting forward all sorts of archaeological evidence for the exodus, including coral-encrusted remains of chariots at the bottom of the red sea, no less.
