Never went to any conventions in WI; I thought the WT listed the Kohl Center for a few years, but I could be wrong.
anyhow, anyone catch the news about the flooding in Madison. My apartment building was the one on the news... :-). 1st two floors of the building destroyed (literally -- all the interior walls are gone) and my car was destroyed too.

They said that they dont have them in Madison because too many people left the convention site and they weren't suppose to. ------------------------------- yeah, it's about 3 blocks from the Kohl center to State Street! For the non-locals, it's whyamihere's (brooke's) kind of street. has all the bars are. If any apostates ever wander into Madison, I'll gladly give a tour. but seriously, I doubt the university gave the WT the sweetheart deal they are likely getting from rockford to have the convention there. -silent

September KM - 70 alterations in Revelation Climax Book
by dozy ini can't find a thread on this subject yet - if there is one , please delete this one.. the september kingdom ministry has a 4 page insert detailing the 70 alterations in the revelation climax book which is due to be studied at the book study shortly.
i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.
p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.

Another dirty little scientific secret is that nicotine is a mild antidepressent.
----------------------------------------------
I am not a neurobiologist, but that sounds plausible. Nicotine is a stimulant. I wonder if caffeine has the same affect. Then again, coffee is supposed to be good for your liver. :-)

I was told that only 10% of the U.S. population graduates from a four year university
------------------------------------------
1) it's actually 26% (from http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/departments/elearning/?article=mosteducatedstates)
2) the least educated state is west virginia (16% hold BA/BS degrees or higher).
well except for the dubbies, who live in the state of denial. :-) -

From cnnsi.com:
According to an Internet report, Prince will be the halftime entertainment at the next Super Bowl. That will mark the most purple at the big game since Fran Tarkenton was still playing. -

Tour de France winner bucked his religion
by MegaDude inlandis' mennonite hometown celebrates'we are disappointed with the lifestyle he lives, but i love him,' one says.
farmersville, pa. - as floyd landis crossed the tour de france finish line sunday, his devout mennonite parents were riding their own bicycles home from church.. paul and arlene landis were so confident their son would win the cyclings greatest race they didnt have to choose between going to church and watching it on tv at a neighbors house.. im glad we didnt have to make that choice.
church is very important to us, arlene landis said.

Yeah, I think it's also a statement on the "brain drain" the organization is facing. The 5% figure was quoted from a rather large study in the early 90's about the demographics of various religions. JWs also had the lowest household incomes as well. Gee, wonder if that isn't impacting their cash flows...

Hey,
Are there any current or ex-graduate students (hopefully graduated :0) on the board? Professional degrees (law, medicine, etc) count too. Just curious. Only 5% of JW's ever get a Bachelor's degree (lowest among 33 major denominations in the US). I've never meant a JW (ex or current) grad student besides me, but I'm sure these mythical creatures exist...
I know there are some on this board. would love to hear from you. Also, interested in your field of choice.
I'll start. I'm going for my PhD in Computer Science.
thanks,
