  17) When marital tension persists, there is no shortcut. Proverbs 15:22 states: "There is a frustrating of plans where there is no confidential talk, but in the multitude of counselors there is accomplishment." You need to sit down with your spouse and discuss the matter. By all means, listen to your mate with an open mind and heart. If it seems impossible to do so, why not take advantage of the provision of elders in the Christian congregation? They have knowledge of the Scriptures and are experienced in applying Bible principles. Such men are "like a hiding place from the wind and a place of concealment from the rainstorm."-Isaiah 32:2.

  I would NEVER go to any elders in my old congregations, for any kind of marital problems.They do not have any formal training in dealing with these matters. Going to MORE meetings and field service is NOT the answer for marital problems, or any other serious problem, for that matter. They are NOT qualified to be giving any kind of counselling.

  i was raised "in the faith" for most of my life.

  my mother married an elder when i was 1 1/2 years old.

  he came from a family of pedophiles (also jw's) and i was a pet project.

  Freegirl............I'm so sorry you had such a horrible, traumatic life experience. As you will find, there are many of us here who have somewhat similar stories, and we will not judge you. EVER! You are amongst friends here.It might take you awhile to get over the fears, that the WT has imbedded into your brain such as,the great fear of dying at Armaggeddon. It took me a few years, and now, after being out for over 8 years, I'm no longer afraid. I no longer have that guilt, either....they use that too.

  Losing your family members is a hard thing to work through, but eventually it becomes easier, and sometimes, some family members do come around. Hold your head up, and know that we have your back, here.

  The witnesses use FEAR to control the congregations. FEAR of dying at armaggeddon, FEAR of losing all your family, FEAR of losing your friends....on and on...Eventually, that fear does go away when you realize that the "truth" is NOT, the truth..Hugs to you...your healing begins here.

  You've got the right perspective here, I only wish my brother had thought this way when my nephews were younger. He didn't have custody, but he got involved with another woman who demanded ALL his time, and now he has his eldest son living with him, his 2nd wife isn't all that happy about it. It means she has to share my brother's attention with a 16 year old.

  this morning my doorbell rang, and i usually never answer my door unless i know someone is coming, because this is thick jw territory, but i did, and low and behold, its a lone jw.

  he was working on the construction site across the street and was trying to locate the owners of a cat he kept seeing.

  he didn't recognize me at first, he was looking at my halloween decorations, and then back at me like he knew something was off...so finally, he asked my name.

  Funny how they all say the same thing. My parents have even said that to me...they just don't get it. They live in fear of armaggeddon. We don't. I've told my dad that too, and he looked at me very strangely, but didn't say a word.

  hello everyone.. i'm an "active" jw and have been for...13 years but my faith in the jw org died about 5 years ago.. so, i've been doing the jw thing for 5 years now without believing in it.

  i might be an ms soon, unfortunately.. i tried telling my parents about it but they said apostates are good with twisting words and whatnot.. they wouldn't even let me show them evidence of wt hypocrisy; however, my mother did say she found it odd that every once in a while, there's that publisher resolution of donating a certain amount a year.

  there might be hope for her yet.

  Welcome Chamelion....I agree with so many others here, when they've said, not to say too much yet to your parents, about what you feel, truthwise. Take caution, and learn all you can, BEFORE you decide what to do. I myself, have faded, but have in the past, been DF'd, so I know the agony of being shunned. It is not pleasant. Only YOU, can decide what route is best for you.

  celebrating christmas

  i left the dubs about 10 yrs ago.... but didn't celebrate xmas until about 7yrs ago.

  even then i didn't get a tree... just kept it simple.. do it all now!

  love it.. even if it's not christs birthday..... who cares?????

  I LOVE Christmas.....it was the holiday I missed the most, when my parents became witnesses. This year, I have a beautiful fake tree, to put up the first day of November...then closer to Christmas, we'll buy a real tree....I have an old home, and we decorate it up pretty good...little white lights everywhere....and each room will be decorated somewhat.

  Regarding the new tract campaign, it has been very well received (I have to admit I thought it could be difficult to place but no, most people quite happy to take it)

  Very well recieved, my a$$......the people are quite happy to take it and throw it out. Haven't you realized that they just take your literature, to get rid of you????? SHEESH already!!!

  I don't owe you any explanation as to why I'm here, or what I come here for. Who the hell are you? WHY DO YOU COME HERE? YOU KNOW YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ON SITES SUCH AS THIS!!!!

  with all the ridiculous hype amongst the dubs about how this new tract is going to help bring about "the end", i thought it would be beneficial to highlight how often they've been crying that the sky is falling in the last 1/2 century:.

  What I think is REALLY sad, is the fact that so many elderly ones, have come this far, believing that they will never die,and here they are again, preaching the end is nigh. For their sakes, I hope to God it's true. They've spent their entire lives, built on fear....fear of dying....fear of not making it into paradise if they don't get X amount of hours in...FEAR, FEAR, FEAR.

  Mary's aunt gave me a copy of the new tract the other day, and she had tears in her eyes, as she spoke about the end, possibly starting, within a few weeks....once this tract was in the hands of every person, worldwide. She said they've been told it WILL be the beginning of the end. She has spent all her life, trying to please God, by going door to door....out of FEAR.

  My grandparents are no exception. Have these ones really wasted their lives, believing in a man-made religion, that has bilked them out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, over the years, promising them life in a paradise on earth? I FEAR, they have.
