nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?

Hey Frank....I can't believe I missed this thread last year!! My husband and I like to sip on a wee dram....Laphroaig, Glenfiddich, Arbelour...Glenlivet, to name a few of our favs.
And yes, I quite agree....studying fine Scotch IS far better than religion!!!

My mom's latest

i got this from the sister that she does talk to.. so, the other day, mentioning that she will soon be laid off(which will be hard for her), she tells my visiting from out of town sister that since she is going to be home, she would adopt a dog and take in a foster child.
while my sister stood there with her mouth hanging open(my mom is over 65!

Your mom sounds a bit like my mom, being of retirement age and an alcoholic.....but my mom has never really had much to do with my kids, even now that they're older....and thank god she would never think of adopting..
I feel for you !!

My grandfather.....he fought in the 2nd WW....came home deathly ill.....raised 7 kids with my Grandmother, he never once strayed from her, he cherished her, he worked as many jobs as he had to, in order to provide for his family...he taught me many things that have helped me get through the tough times in life....including my love of football.
May he rest in peace xoxox

Would the world be a better place if there was no religion?
by LouBelle inin many ways it would, because there has been so much bloodshed, torture, misunderstanding between humans because of their different religions and all done in the name of their god.
today everyone still wants their faith to be right & many arguments have been had over who is right and wrong.. then again religion has kept many people in check - doesn't allow the masses to run around willy nilly in their freedom.
it controls the masses.

No, there would be more chaos, imho. As others have pointed out, man will always find something to fight about..and besides, I think some people like to have some sort of belief system, they need it, they crave it.
As Mary and I have often discussed, she has a real spiritual need, I don't. I think there are a lot of people who have that same spiritual need, and religion, nurtures it for them.
