i need help..... rather, my grandmother needs help..... okay... back story first..... i was (past tense emphasized) in the truth from the age of 4 until about 12 or so, when my parents divorced and my mother moved us halfway across country, and we eventually just stopped going to the meeting and practicing.... i'm not even going to get into how going from being a congregational poster boy (giving talks at since the age of 8, and all ways being the one out in service, having all the other parents say, "look at little brother 'sexington,' why cant you be more like him?
) would screw a kid up..... i'm almost 22 and haven't had a birthday party, and i'm still nervous about blood transfusions, and don't get me started about christmas........ i'm babbling on..... long short, most of my dad's side of the family is still the truth (except for him, which is kind of funny now that i think about it, seeing as he was the most gung ho one of us, being the ministerial servant, jockeying for elder status, forcing yours truly to make and deliver talks, and to kill every saturday and national holiday of my youth out in field service.).
jeez venting is nice..... but i'm going to try to stay on subject from here on out.... so, i'm in the midwest, and my dad's family is on the west coast, and about a month ago i get a call from my grandmother.
Welcome Tad!!! I think Ivy hit it right on....you need to keep in constant contact with your Gran...Daily...making sure she has some kind of association..Does she have friends who are not JW's??? Maybe they can look in on her, get her out doing things....and certainly your relatives that aren't JW's can rally around her too. This religion has divided many families, my own included, but without family, we've got nothing.....no religion will EVER make me stop associating with my family....good luck and best wishes Tad....keep us posted....perhaps Gran would like to come aboard and get the encouragement she needs?????
Speaking of garage sales, isn't it funny how many Jdubs you run into, on a Saturday morning, who are in the "field service", counting their time, but who are also stopping at every garage sale they see???? I have seen this so many times, and I just laugh....and when we used to go to the KH, it never failed, that one of my kids would pick something up that they wanted, at the same moment another JW would stop by....hahahahaha I remember feeling SOOOOO....embarrassed. What a joke....I don't give it another thought these days...who cares?
my 18 month-old is the only one of my three to ever do this.. he actually stuck 3 of them up there, but i squished the first one out then pulled out the 2nd one with tweezers.
My neice was 2 when she stuck tic tacs up her nose. My sister-in-law had a freak fit, and we spent the better part of a day in the ER only to have the physician tell us that it would eventually melt and not to worry.....My neice is 20 now, and I can't wait to tell the story at her wedding..hahahahaha
I think you have gotten a great deal on your radio. My uncle dealt in old radios, he fixed them and sold them.. We bought one off him for $50.00 CDN, and it worked like a charm. It was all original and we loved to listen to the old tyme stations out of the USA. late at night. We loved the glow it emitted , as it made for a romantic old tyme evening......Enjoy.
No he is not "demonized".....what attracted him to the pinata was probably the bright colors..and what child do you know would NOT be attracted to the "jolly old elf"? Tell me, did his mom try to put it back, so as to be inconspicuous and not get caught by other JW's who might be in the area??? hahahahah I have seen this happen before, he was just being a normal child.....
Nine Inch Nails, AC/DC, .. I haven't heard Marillion in years, but they are GREAT.......Tim McGraw....'cause he's yummy.......Tool, A Perfect Circle......
"Beaches" with Bett Middler.....it is too close to home for me......and also "Phantom of the Opera"....i saw the opera in Toronto, and recently watched the dvd....they did a good job recreating it for tv.
I have to say "BO" only 'cause he is CUTE.....and I am totally into the men.....but Carrie is cute too, and they both have awesome voices.....either onewill do.
JH and Z, keep the weather report to yourselves thankyou.......i would like to enjoy what little sunshine we have today....... although somewhere out west, I think? had SNOW last week????? shiver.....I'll be glad when we finally have summer.
Dee P.S. I don't know why my family finds it so difficult to put on a new roll of toilet paper ...... That's my gripe for the day....
