OK, i guess I'll share my story then.....one night, we had non-Jw friends over for dinner. Afterwards, my husband and his buddy were in the front hallway, with our two boys, playing air hockey. We had a telephone, sitting on a small stand, and no-body was even close to it. All of a sudden, the receiver was picked up in the air, and slammed down on the floor. My husband's friend jumped up and yelled to his wife, get the baby, we are outta here! What the hell was that???? he was scared to death...another time, i heard my husband call my name twice, when I was getting ready for bed. The 2nd time I turned towards the voice, and he wasn't there...I had just taken him to work.....i jumped into bed and pulled the covers over my head....We hear footsteps all the time in our old house, and the dog goes crazy with the phones , she ripped out all three of them one time....sometimes, things go missing, and then suddenly reappear later on....it's weird....but we've grown used to it.

Whats the spookiest thing that has happened to you?
by diamondblue1974 ini have had a few experiences which some could be dealt with rationally although even to this day the coincidences seem too convenient; .
mine was on new years day in 1994; i didnt celebrate new years at the same although i was about to start my fade that year; i was ill on new years eve anyway and i had been sleeping when i awoke at precisely 12.13. i couldnt get back to sleep but there was no obvious reason why.. my grandmother was in hospital but she was getting better when i had last spoken to her; i managed to back off to sleep but woke that following morning for some reason really concerned about my gran; just as i was coming downstairs the phone rang and my girlfriend answered it.
i said to her before she got to the phone that it would be my mother with bad news about my gran; i was right on both counts; it was my mum and my gran had died.....at 12.13 precisely..

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Truly Honest?
by minimus injws pride themselves in being the "most honest people on earth".
could you refute that claim??
?
-
delilah
There are but a few honest-hearted good people that are JW's.....I found those to be mostly the elderly in my old KH. I know of a person, who is a contractor, former elder too, who has made a career from stealing furnishings from every model home he helped to build....and he still considers himself a staunch JW...one time, he did a Tim Horton's coffee run for his worker's....it was "roll-up-the-rim time", when he took the coffees out to the truck, every cup had their rim rolled to see if there were any winners.....true story!!! Oh, the furnishings he stole, were given as gifts to family members and kept for himself..

When my daughter was 3, she peeked under the bathroom door, when my father was in there. Next thing we know, she comes running into the family room, "Why does Papa pull out his belly button to go peepee??" I choked on my iced tea laughing so hard.....another time, a friend's 3 year old daughter commented on my freckles on my arm. Then she spoke up real loud and said, "I have a freckle on my vulva!" like she was so proud, I nearly died from laughter then...

Witnesses and alcoholism
by Grace inmy jw husband has made me promise to let him die rather than approve a blood transfusion because of bible doctrine; however, the same bible speaks against alcoholism and drunkeness and yet he continues to drink and sometimes gets absolutely smashed.. last night we were at a non-jw staff party for my place of employment, and he lost any shred of dignity through his heavy drinking.
we got home at 3 a.m. and he jumped out of bed at 8:20 and said, "i have to get to book study; i'm reading today.
(it behooves me how he can do this time and again without even taking so much as an asparin!).

I was always amazed, at how many of the witnesses were heavy drinkers...elders and Ms's especially. I often wondered if it was because of the heavy "workload" of shepherding the congregation, and perhaps family problems. I know my mother had a severe drinking problem, due to problems in the family, and for almost 10 years, it was terrible. She felt guilty, and therefore would not go to meetings very often. It almost destroyed her marriage, and my siblings and I found it hard to visit her. She finally got help through a wonderful program, especially for women, and she has been sober for 2 years now. I am grateful to have mom back, I just wish she'd see the light about the "truth" now.

Priests sexually exploit young people; church cover up - Book Study comment
by truthseeker inwell, having attended the book study this week, we started the first few chapters in the new brochure, "keep on the watch" .
and, as predicted by myself, the brother taking the study blames the catholic church for all the sexual abuse.
another classic example of the ostrich mentality.

As you've said, they keep their heads in the sand, and try to keep the flock ignorant of what's REALLY happening within their own society. They are told not to listen to, or watch programs that expose their own deep dark secrets....they continue to point fingers at the Catholic church, but they fail to realize that there are three fingers pointing back at them when they do this. They will always use the Catholic church as a scapegoat. The way the JW's treat the vicims is repulsive, and one day they will answer for their dirty deeds.
