together for decades sometimes dating back to the second world war.. .
it has always amazed me how some couples can stay together for 20, 30, 40 .

Love Touches are the passing shoulder massages, the hugs and kisses before going off to work, the embraces in the backyard, the playful pulling to the couch, etc...
The attempts to let the other know they are desired, adored and loved, still after all the years. How true!! The text messages every day from work, the way my heart jumps when I pick him up at work....the whispered "I love You's" before falling asleep. Buying his favorite scotch at the end of a busy week.....and yes, finishing each other's sentences....Also, the "I'm really sorry's", after an arguement, and making up...
Allowing each other to be their own person, and being able to express yourself freely....
It all makes for a good, bonding marriage. My husband wasn't my first love, but he is my one and only TRUE love...we are soulmates.
Happy anniversary Cruzanheart and Big Tex.

How do you measure success compared to before?
by JH inas a jw, success meant pioneering, commenting at the hall and book study, and going up the jw ladder.. how about now, how do you mesure success and happiness?.
-
delilah
Most importantly, JH............we are successful in rearing our children the normal, happy way, without the interference of the WTBTS. Making sure our children have every opportunity to succeed in this world, furthering their education, and for them to have fun playing sports, and making good friends. We let them be kids....
I never was one for climbing that social ladder at the KH...I could have cared less, that sister so-in-so was pioneering and giving talks and had x number of studies, and oh isn't she just so wonderful??? Seems to me, in my congregation anyways, that those who were so busy climbing that social ladder had truck loads of troubles, and they were the worst back-stabbing lot around. They were people I didn't want to be around anyways.

Yummm, I'll have to try that Maudite..it looks really good. I like Sleeman's Fine Porter...I also like Waterloo Dark, Brickman Red, I think it's called....it's excellent. I love Guinness any time, 80 Shilling is very yummy. Suffice it to say, I like a lot of different beer, ales and stout. My husband calls me a beer and ale snob, because I refuse to drink Molson Canadian, Blue, Coors or anything like that. I like a beer or ale or stout that I can enjoy....not guzzle down.
Where can I get that Maudite? At a brewer's Retail store or the liquor store? Is it even available in Ontario?
Kerj.....where is Durtynellies, by the way....their beer menu looks fantastic...my husband will drool all over the keyboard when I show him...

want to know what's weird?
by ninja inwe all know there is no mention of cats in the bible...not one....but another thing that's weird is that there is no reference to any people in the old testament taking their kids down to the beach to make sandcastles and stuff...why?
-
delilah
There isn't any reference to Jesus when he was in his teens going through puberty with raging hormones. The gospels only cover when he was about 12 and then pick up when he was a full grown adult. Did he ever get horny going through "the bloom of youth"?
True, but I thought he and Merry Magdalene had a lil' sumthin', sumthin' going on?

Were you a non-spiritual JW?
by moshe ini sure tried to act spiritual in the beginning of my jw life.
i could go through the motions of being a good jw, but i just never could get turned on with being spiritual.i gave great talks and when i was an elder i could fill in for a no-show and never miss a beat.
however, my wife at the time always complained that we didn't do the family study or study the wt lesson ahead of time.
-
delilah
I was never a spiritual person, I just went through the motions. I always had a hard time believing in God. I know now, that a lot of it was because of some of the things that happened while I was a kid. If I couldn't trust people I could see, how could I trust that there was a god that loved me, whom I couldn't see?!
Now that I'm getting older, I realize that maybe it's something I need to look into.

Do You Think The GOVERNMENT Should Require You To Wear A Seatbelt?
by minimus inin new hampshire, the council that has power to make laws happen, voted against the mandatory seat belt law.
it appears that seat belt use will remain voluntary.
do you believe the government should require such laws??
-
delilah
If they are successful in making adult seatbelt use voluntary, then let's hope nobody expects the government to bail them out financially when they are crippled in an accident where they were not wearing their seatbelt.
Bingo, Scully. If it's going to save your life, JUST DO IT. I understand what you're saying, Min, the government seems to like to control almost every aspect of our lives, but this is one area where I think it is appropriate.
If you are in an accident, the last thing you DON'T want, is to be thrown from the vehicle....this happens far too often. There seems to be a lot of young people dying ( here in Ontario, anyways lately) from being thrown from their cars, due to the fact that they did not have their seatbelt on.
As parents, we buckle our babies up in their car seats....then eventually they are old enough to buckle up themselves and it becomes an automatic ritual as soon as they get in the car. My kids have always put their seatbelts on and have reminded their father when he's forgotten.
It just makes sense.Besides, it's the law in Ontario, and all of Canada, I believe.
