On most of the threads that start out on Islamic musings tend to denegrate into hate filled rants against an entire people. This is bigotry. Some of the statements made on similar threads have been "I know what Terrorists look like and they look like all those Osama lookin dudes", "Islam teaches hate", "they all hate us", "f**k em, nuke em", "sh**heads for allah".
So if you want to bash and entire class of people just to bash them...well admit it for what it is. Simplistic rants to idle complex issues.
I don't see people discussing the ETA Basque seperatists as denegrating into a free for all bashing all Spainards or Catholics. I haven't seen statements like "All Catholics hate Britons" for the IRA discussions. But most all of the Islam threads turn into whole race bashing statements. Perhaps it's just easier to lump them all together. That way we don't have to delve into the ins and outs of Islam and why it's ideology allows for such horrific things to happen.

This hysteria reminds me of what the Japanese must have endured in WWII. Here's a "fun" quote: General John L. DeWitt was responsible for the defense of the West Coast whose famous quotes include: “A Jap’s a Jap. It makes no difference whether he is an American citizen or not. I could post hundreds of similar quotes but I think you get my drift. In 30 years will we look back at this time and see what we were saying about Muslims and having Gitmo as an internment camp and be similarly embarrased? When I was in high school I remember learning about the Japanese internment camps and thinking to myself "That could never happen now". I was wrong.

Very similar to the rounding up of Muslim and Arab males after the 9/11 attacks, within 48 hours after Pearl Harbor, 1,291 Japanese American men were arrested, most of whom would be incarcerated for the entire four-year duration of the war and separated from their families and loved ones.

But since none of the 9/11 hijackers were American yet Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were...perhaps instead of rounding up Muslims we ought to round up radical right wing political groups instead?

Another interesting study to check out: http://pewglobal.org/reports/display.php?PageID=811 It has a chart, by nation, showing what popular thought is regarding which is the most "violent" religion. Of course Britons thought Isalm. Many middle eastern countries felt it was the Jews. In Turkey it was the Christians. Is it truly in the eye of the beholder? Let the reader use discernment.

But I digress. If there could be civil, enlightened debate on the subject I'm all for it but sadly I haven't seen a whole lot of that regarding Muslims on JWD. It seems to have boiled down to personal attacks, racist slurs, and name calling by both posters and mods alike.

I'm tired of hearing about the "Private messages" staying private. INVADING one's privacy here on JWD without consent is offensive. Most PM's start by saying hello or asking questions or have GENUINE concern. A random attack PM is a cowardice way to hide behind a PM. Sorry, but Stilla didn't say who it was from and I applaud his decorum.
I have had people who I have told to STOP PM'ing me continue to send PM's. At that point "it's fair game" IMHO.
It goes to the intent of the PM....which is pretty easily determined in this case.
I wonder if this PM'ing idiot has talked to Jehoba about how he feels about the WTBS affiliation with the UN NGO???

On one hand Dubs talk about how Satan is trying to mislead the world by hiding his existence....yet on the other hand accuse Satan's minions of being on "sheet pulling duty". So I'm supposed to believe that Satan in his final days here on Earth has sent his evil ones forth to go about flickering lights, knocking pictures off the walls, and creating spooky noises? Come on, don't you think he'd have them pulling Rwanda Genocide duty instead?!?

Also, if demunz were popping up in your house wouldn't the first thing you'd do was to go to a church or the Kingdumb Hall since the existence of demunz would then likely mean there is a God? Isn't that what Satan is trying to avoid???

Any Back or Neck Crackers Here?

one of my bad habits is cracking my neck and spine.

so many times when i'm tense i move my head from side to side and hear a loud series of cracks in my neck and the tension just melts away.

same with my spine, i can twist my body a certain way and feel and hear my lower spine crack.

I've read studies whereby 25% of American's are "finger popping, back cracking, neck snapping nuts". There has only been one study that I'm aware of regarding finger popping....nothing of negative results could be found except for some short term weakness due to the knuckle ligaments being in the maximum extension position for a time being. Not all popping is the same however....sometimes it's a ligament popping instead of synovial fluid.

I'm a knuckle cracking kinda guy. My back and neck crack as I stretch. So as a by product I get some crunching along the way.

confusion

i am going through a difficult time with my feelings on things.

i have a really good friend that helps me with research she has done in regards to "is this the true religion", but has anyone else out there been so torn that even with evidence one way or another in front of you, you still feel empty when you think of not having the 'truth' in your life?

i have 3 children and was raised in the 'truth' so was my husband.

Welcome....please spend some time here digging thru all the posts. What you will find will probably astound you. (At least it did for me.)
Remember it takes bravery to trade a "certainty" even though it's a fantasy and trade it for soul searching, questioning, and the unknown but I promise you the journey will be worth it at the end of the day.
Sometimes, life doesn't have simple answers. You must find "your way". Challenge your assertions. Rethink your reflexes. Develop your spirituality outside of JW programming.
