It attracks unhappy people that want to feel superior by their suffering. This suffering for God complex is a strange one. I have SACRIFICED so much for serving God, therefore I am a better Christian. It gives them an excuse not to succed in live, career, or emotional well being and then use that as a reason for how much they have given for God.
That is why there are so many meetings, service requirements, books, pamphlets, etc... for people. The burden of doing all these things makes them feel better. Things are shitty right now....they are supposed to be that way since the "world" is such a horrible, ugly place.
It allows them not to do personal self improvement and just say "I'm unhappy, but that's ok, because in the new system I'll be happy." What a crock! How many of you can say that you would want to live forever with these miserable bastards. They have never been happy, don't know how to be happy, and have allowed themselves the cop-out of .... God will make me happy someday in the future so why figure it out myself. And besides...all these happy worldly people are going to be killed anyway.

KM - Local Needs

(the km allots 15 minutes to local needs at this weeks service meeting).

I remember a local needs talk one time about 15 years ago...
It was a part on "How To Count Your Hours In Service"
So after you leave the hall if you drive to the territory you count your time when you get out of the car to bang on the first door. However, if you bang on a Return Visit right next to the hall then you can count your drive time as "Service Time".
If a break is necessary to continue "Witnessing" (ie a 15 minute pit stop at a Mickey D's) no need in deducting that time.
If you go over 15 mins or so.... then it is a "break" and should not be counted.
He also said, "I've noticed recently teenaged ones having a little too much fun in Service... we need to remember this is serious business".
He concluded by saying that you should never round up your service time, but carry over the time. So if you have 10 hours and 45 minutes of Service time, then you turn in the 10 hours and add 45 minutes to next month. But you should never round up and deduct the 15 minutes from next month, because this was like robbing Jehovah.
This was the same elder who a few weeks earlier laughed at the Jewish leaders of Jesus time for debating whether wiping their noses on the sabbath was considered work or not.

I loved "that guy/gal" that would comment, "Last night I noticed this point...so I went and looked up some info...blah, blah, bullshit, etc... and before I knew it 3 hours had passed". It was a competition of suffering. Oh you spent 3 hours? I spent 3 1/2 hours. The material was REALLY deep.
I'm like, if it took you 3 hours to study for this candy ass material...puleeze.
I could figure the material out in 15 minutes and spend the other 45 minutes contemplating if fluidic space was a possibility.... or maybe how good that beer would taste afterwards. -

This is a little off topic. But my favorite type of commenter was the one that answered the "nebulous" question from the conductor. You know that one question the conductor "pre determined" with his study group the night before? You (cause you weren't spiritual enough to get invited to the Sat. night Watchtower Study Party) are sitting there saying to yourself WTF is he asking? And sure enough two or three of the brown nosers have their hands up and go into this long, drawn out, off topic, footnoted, cross referenced answer that made the meeting go over by 10 minutes. You think to yourself, "Wow, what kind of drugs are they doing at those Sat. night study parties?"

I remember sitting in a meeting about that subject. We the speaker said "Churches have bulletin boards WE have information boards....", I was thinking to myself, he's going to incorporate this into some joke right? No, he was SERIOUS! I was like "Jehovah ought to strike you down right now for wasting precious oxygen for this drivel." So much for meaty spiritual food!
But I think the silliest teaching is that the resurrected ones will not want to get married and have children. When I'd ask people about this they would say... "well they will be perfect then, God will make them like Angels that way"..... ummm...hello? Adam was perfect and was still lonely, you know the whole reason for the "Eve" thing. Also, um, Angel's? Didn't they come down to Earth in fleshly form to get a piece of ass? Why are you being so silly BORG....it's not wrong to say "We don't fully know what God intends", instead of trying to come up with such odd / specific rules, regulations, and procedures.
