In my household growing up the Awake's were always in the bathroom as reading material...... which is where I'm willing to bet 90% of that CRAP gets read. Why have a long drawn out topic to read in the bathroom?
Also, the WTS is probably sooo busy providing JW's "meat in due season" in the Watchtower that they don't have time to beef up the articles in the Awake.
Just like the USA Today newspaper is considered the McPaper of the newspaper world maybe the Awake should be the BarelyAwake Magazine.

Homosexuality and how should a JW or 'Study' view it?
by AnitainFlorida ini am sure the subject is not very descriptive and for this i appologize.. i would like some assistnace in biblical references that say how homosexuality should be viewed and how one should deal with another that is homosexual or that has homosexual friends even if they non study's daughter says she and this other girl aren't 'doing anything'.
i know this is long winded, so i will just now finally get to the point.. i am a grandmother that has recently taken back up studying after a 1-2 year pause.
when i had first started studying, my daughter was also studying and we had our study togeather as i was staying with she and her husband because she had medical trouble and could not care for their 3 children when he was gone to work.

Anltain..... from your post it sounds like you are not really looking for input but rather ammunition to use against your daughter. Maybe she is not the one that needs her thinking "clairfied". Maybe you should open your thoughts to "pro homo" before just trying to take the easy way out. Remember to walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge. Talk to your daughter (not at her) to see what she is going thru. It sounds like she may be struggling with some important life decisions. She may be feeling a large void in her life and trying to figure out a way of filling it. Anyway...that's my 2 cents worth...

Being a gay man that was raised in "da troof" I had my fair share of sleeping w/ boys that became MS or elders...or slept with them while they were MS's already. Apparently the GB really prayed alot on those considerations before making them MS's or elders.... HA HA.
But about 2 years ago I got a call from a congo elder trying to find out about wrongdoing.... (someone I slept with turned himself in after 15 years had passed.) This guy had become an MS after the fact.....then an elder.... I have not been to a single meeting, memorial, or whatever for 13 years. Here this jag bag was trying to get in touch with me to "deal with" the situation. He told me I needed to seek out the elders in my area and "turn myself in"..... I laughed my ass off on the phone to him. I told him to contact my attorney with and issues and to never contact me again. What a joke organization.
Your nephew should definately kiss and tell. Those bastards break the rules by telling their wives and children. Reproof becomes public. Make those elders and MS's suffer !!!! -

Jealousy is not good or bad. It is an emotion. It is part and parcel of living w/ your romantic interest. WHAT YOU DO with jealousy is what could be construed as good / bad.
Jealousy shows your mate you are alive and protective. You shouldn't let jealousy however justify silly actions, much like anger. Anger is ok..it's what you do with it that makes it acceptable or unacceptable. -

i don't have his faith, or any faith anymore, but i can see how for a true believer that would be a source of strength.. the thing is, a lot of us thought we'd never die.

This was one of the topics I talked with my Jo Ho parents about a few months ago. When I told them that I have lived an incredible live beyond what anyone deserves they said I was lying to myself. I have seen more places and things than most people. I have loved 3 times.... the first 2 times were excruitiating when they ended. This third person I love is now my partner / husband. He loves me unconditionally. I have had a chance to help a lot of people in the past 15 years. My friends that I have made into my own family... that care about me and love me. I have been very, very lucky. I am only 37 years old and if my life ended tomorrow I could not complain that I didn't get a fair chance at life. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not trying to "cut in line" to get to the front to die, I'll fight to continue my life as anyone would. It's just I am so blessed for everything in my life, I cannot complain.
My parents are 62 years old now. And they scoffed at my idea of my idea of dying. They said I wasn't being truthful with myself. I told them I thought the "Witnesses" had done them a huge disservice for not preparing them for their own mortality very well. In fact commited an unforgivable sin by consistently leaving them unprepeared for retirement and death. I was born in 1967 and I was never supposed to go to kindergarten before the "end of the system of things". Then it was 1975.... then I wouldn't be out of jr. high....then high school...yadda, yadda.
I think my experiences and understanding now with Eastern religion have helped me in this regard. Western Christianity does a lousy job of having people live their lives.

This is a fundamental truth. We cannot say for sure what awaits our soul or spirit on the other side of death. So we should live our lives as fully and richly as we possibly can RIGHT NOW. It has made me a happier, calmer, more appreciative human being.

The statement that your niece has the option of making "worldly" friends AFTER making Jo Ho ones is just a stunt. This is in the same vein as "Give the truth 1 year and then we'll respect your decision if you choose not to." Or "Give pioneering just one year to see if it's for you. It's the incrementalism that makes me puke. Carrot and stick, carrot and stick, stick and carrot!
When I was baptised in my youth no matter what I did it was never good enough. I'd get 20 hours of field service in each month of summer instead of getting a "Good Job!!!" from the elders I'd get, "Wasn't that spiritual? Now just think how much better you'll feel when you auxillary pioneer." So I'd auxillary pioneer for a month. THen it became.... "Why don't you just pioneer full time?" Never enough.
Some how your family thinks (as to most Jo Ho's) that as long as they drag their kids to meetings and service somehow they will turn out ok. Don't spend quality time with them. Don't develop a strong bond with them. Don't let them have UNCONDITIONAL love. Just drag their butts to meetings. What a horrible way to live.
I'm so glad I broke that circle of stupidity.
