Can you be "just friends" ?

ok this one is 2 fold..... tonight i was chatting to my ex on the internet and despite 5 years elapsing, he wants to go out for a beer.

he was a creep at the time we split, good looking and all the rest, but prone to violent outbursts and had this knack of making me think i didn't need any other friends (i gradually dropped them all) whilst all the time becoming more controlling........it messed up my head at the time.

(like a dumb twat i even gave him all my visa cards as he said he'd be better at managing "our" money) apparently he is now a changed person, and i am too, no longer as gullible as i once was.

Scooby you mention that you cringe when you see queeny people on the Telly.

While super effeminate men are not my thing either...those boys have an even tougher time than we did probably since at least you and I could pass for straight in a crowd.

Also, in my own case that kind of behavior bothered me I think because I didn't like any of those tendencies in me...so it was really hating myself for those traits rather than not liking those "queeny" boys. Make sense?

Yeah...I think what helped me out Cruz is that I read ONLY the gospels when I decided to leave. I figured man... if Jesus was God or God's Son and knew that his apostles would be writing all of his instructions down he would make sure to talk about what REALLY was important. Jesus didnt' see fit to mention masterbation or homosexuality even once. He didn't talk about God's organization once. He SPENT HIS TIME preaching about God's glory, loving his neighbor, having discussions and debates amongst Jewish leaders / Philistine's. He didn't spend his time telling Peter how to set up the congregation once he passed on. The only congregational item he passed on was the rememberence of passover and the last supper.

I explored Buhddism, Taoism, Hinduism, and Unitarianism. My belief in God is SO MUCH stronger today that when I was a JW. My God likes the fact that on a Sunday morning I get up early, go surfing, and while I'm in the water I look around and see all His beauty. I marvel at the water, and the birds flying over head. I truly give thanks for that. My God doesn't care that I'm not sitting in some formal KH bored stiff, acting as someone I am not.

new information on disfellowshipping

is it true that jw's are going to seek out inactive ones and if they are not willing to go back to the kingdom hall that they will be disfellowshipped?

i heard that this is a new policy.. thanks

Well, I'm not sure how "ordinary" I am...LOL. With the JW's stand on hating gays and every other meeting or so talks from the stage about how Homo's were pedophiles and what not I tried to not be gay.

Because of my sexuality I tried so hard for God to fix me. I remember when I was 12, 13 and 14 having an interest in boys and feeling ashamed and dirty because of it. I got baptized at 16 and swore off any sexual contact of any sort. I went almost 18 months without masterbating. I prayed EVERY morning when I woke up...when i went to bed...and many times in between. I went to high school and auxillary pioneered. I went to every meeting. I got lots of responsibilites in the Congo. I just wanted my "gay" feelings to go away. I was told over and over that praying would help. I did everything in my power to make these feelings go away. I was an early bloomer and had full sexual development by about 13.... so not having sex or masterbating at 16 was a huge burden. I HATED myself. Apparently God hated me too cause he didn't fix me. I would cry myself to sleep. I did everything He asked me to and everything the WTS said to do. I went 4 years from baptism before I gave in and had sex with another boy. I got tired of feeling worthless and alone.

I couldn't tell my parents or witness friends what I was going thru because they'd turn me in and I'd get booted out. I saw this happen to a good friend of mine going thru the same thing. This was the start of the end for my believing. Why would God make me with these feelings? I wasn't abused as a boy....I wasn't sexualized at an early age... it was who I was to the very core.

I have to laugh at anyone who says being gay is a choice. No one would choose this if they had the option growing up. But now I'm an adult...healthy, happy and well adjusted. I love who I am. I have learned to love the part of me that likes men. I am blessed beyond means. I now know that God doesn't judge people based on whom them fall in love with. For those people who say it isn't natural I have to point to the over 90 different species of animals with documented homosexual relations.

average gas price in colorado is around 2.35/gal.

theres talk that by this time next year it might get to 5.0/gal.

i hear alot of talk but none of our spineless government reps never do anything about it.

THE USA IS THE LARGEST POLLUTER ON THE EARTH.

That's not twisting the fact, it's misrepresenting it really.

The USA has 5% of the population of the Earth yet uses about 25% of it's engery resources. However the USA also has almost 28% of world GDP - Gross Domestic Product. So we are using energy in line to what we produce for the world.

I don't think name calling is going to get us far....as all of us could do a better job at conserving our energy needs!!! Americans, Canadians, Europeans, Asians....all the same.

My brother has just had a run in with the borg last week. He has not been to a meeting in 6 1/2 years and he was told he needed to come before the elders..... I mean really have they run out of anything spiritually strengthening to do?

It's been 15 + years for me so I'm sure they will work their way throgh the pile to get to me.

You can dress up as a mummy, or a vampire, or a biblical character.... but if you dress up as the other sex you are cross dressing and imitating what was wicked in God's eye.

Seeing your ex can be two fold. Don't see him so you don't have to relive that misery. Or maybe do see him and you'll realize why you left him....

Keep it to a public place for coffee or a drink and say your goodbyes is my advice. No "one last sexual fling" though!!!

Coming from a gay man yes you can make it. I think the most important thing that we as Ex-Witnesses and those of us as homosexuals have to do is build our own families. Since I am estranged from my family due to "da troof" and my "lifestyle choice" as they put it....my friends have become my family. They are there for me when I am down. We have holdiays together. They are there for me when I am up. We scream, we yell, we love, we are family. We all need our support structures.

I have 3 female friends that are closer than sisters. And 6 or so good male friends. These are my "brothers and sisters".

While I can understand your plight JT, I cannot say that the current price of gas is too high. In Europe it is between $ 5.50 and $ 8.00 a gallon. HOWEVER, those crafty Socialists in Euorpe have alternative means of transportation. Go to any major European city and the need for a car becomes a luxury. I have gotten around all of Europe for 10 years now on business and have rented a car maybe 2 or 3 times. That would be impossible here in the US. The bus / subway / rail system in the country is a joke! But that has been our country's tax policy for 30 ought years. Build roads not mass transit solutions. Well the Highway Bill that just passed OVERSPENDS the gasoline tax taken in by 20%. So for every $ 1.00 in gas taxes you pay in...the current highway's cost $ 1.20. And as you sit in traffic wondering why they don't build better/more roads ponder that statistic.

Part of the large increase in the gas price is also to be laid directly at the Bush administration's feet. While our friends in Europe's gas bill has gone up slightly ours has jumped dramatically in large part due to the "weak dollar" policy of the Bush administration. Oil is priced in US Dollars. If US Dollars drop in value against the world currency basket then oil prices go up. But given that the Euro and other currencies got stronger and buy more dollars they do not experience the same pain as we do here in the US.

I drive an SUV that get's 14 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the road. But my spouse and I only drive 10,000 to 12,000 miles per year. So please don't think that I am some tree hugging, granola eating, wus. I live in the city and live in a small flat...only about 1100 sq. feet compared to a house in the suburbs that would be 2,000 sq. feet for the same price. So I choose to not have a commute. I ride my bike to work alot of days, or walk seeing as it is only 1 1/2 miles away.

Also, as I predicted to my friends over 2 years ago I said we would spend about $ 300 billion on the Iraq quagmire. We are not quite there yet, but then we haven't gotten out yet either. We have spent over $ 200 billion and counting so far. My idea was to give a $10,000 rebate to anyone purchaing a hybrid car or one that got in excess of 35 miles per gallon on the hwy. We could have replaced 30,000,000 vehicles on the road or approxiamtely 1/4 of the cars on the road currently. That would have shaved our needs for imported oil by 2,000,000 barrels a day. (Ironcially, this 2,000,000 was the exact amount of oil Iraq was exporting before the war) Saving us $ 35 billion a year in imported oil. That $ 300 billion would have paid off after 8 1/2 years. Think the Iraq mess will pay off in 8 1/2 years?

So I digress.... I'm sure you bought a house in the sticks for a good reason JT... but the fact of the matter is energy is a precious commodity. The Chinese are also part of the reason energy is high. They will be competing for our petro-dollar. So my advice is to sell you gas guzzler or at least have one car in your family that get's 38 mpg on the road so you aren't too hard pinched by this issue. High energy prices are here to last for a few years.

Also, before I hear someone say to tap "Anwar" (Alaskan National Wildlife) please bear in mind that we would ruin this egosystem for the equivelent amount of oil that America uses in 200 days!!! So we would kill an ecosystem for 9 months worth of oil. I do not think that is being good stewards of God's land.
