I hope others can see first hand how hot Europeans in particular are at America for the cowardly walk out of Kyoto. However, this blame must be laid at the feet of the Bush administration. While 52,000,000 voted for the idiot, the other 250,000,000 of us now have to be governed by him.

My point about GDP was that as a percentage of "economic goods produced" America is actually using slightly less than what would be expected given the output.

I'm not trying to justify that output, nor any other behavior, just pointing out name calling and attacks won't really get us anywhere.

The Kyoto Protocol is fundamentally flawed as it will not address China and the developing world's output. As it sits now China will overtake the US in pollution within the next 25 years. While MY PERSONAL choice would have been to sign the protocol and work from inside the organization to address these issues, the Bush Administration dismissed it out of hand.

European can thank the Green Party for their "more enlightened" approach to the enviroment, but many American's feel that instead of rules, a free market will do better.

That's my 2 cents...

JW work situation

i work for a rather large financial institution in nyc.

i run a large profit center and manage over 100 people.

on of my best workers is a dub doing a slow but progressive fade.

Nothing steams me more than gossip like this.

I'm sure the dub is an elder's wife or something...and sure enough found out what his sin was. My experience with the borg was that there was never any such thing as Private Reproof as eveyone knew your issue. It disgusted me.

They engage this legalistic mantra that is overwhelming, yet will not and do not follow it themselves. And when you point this out they simply dismiss you as lacking in faith of Jehovah. "Whole Congo found out that you met with the elders? Well, I guess you shouldn't have sinned then", would be the reply I got. Why am I here in the 1st place? Shouldn't that brother that had a problem approach me first? Entreat me to seek the elders out and if I didn't do so on my own then he could approach you? "Well in theory yes, but ...."

They don't have to follow the rules you do, and we will interpret those rules as we see fit.

This morning's USA Today says gas will peak at somewhere near $ 2.35 per gallon nationwide for regular unleaded assuming no additional oil scares. It also mentions that adjusted for inflation gas would have to hit $ 3.095 a gallon to be a record. FYI.

Can you be "just friends" ?

ok this one is 2 fold..... tonight i was chatting to my ex on the internet and despite 5 years elapsing, he wants to go out for a beer.

he was a creep at the time we split, good looking and all the rest, but prone to violent outbursts and had this knack of making me think i didn't need any other friends (i gradually dropped them all) whilst all the time becoming more controlling........it messed up my head at the time.

(like a dumb twat i even gave him all my visa cards as he said he'd be better at managing "our" money) apparently he is now a changed person, and i am too, no longer as gullible as i once was.

I felt the same way you did for years and to an extent feel that way now. My relationship is a private one with my boyfriend, and we have rules that govern our relationship that are not "typical" and we don't need to have someone tell us how we are supposed to live by a white sheet of paper.

However, for legal reasons it is advantagous. We are also biz partners and have set up our medical practise to be owned by a Foreign Corp. structure. Believe me when I tell you as a doctor the #1 concern we face every day is frivolous lawsuits and someone trying to take everything you've worked so hard for.

While I have set up as many legal protections for each of us as possible it is still nowhere near the legal protections you get from marriage. And while the US may not recognize these marriages to the full extent yet, I think one day in the next few years it will.

I have no doubt that if I fell sick and needed blood transfusions or to have the "plug pulled" my parents would butt in and use every legal tactic at their fingertips to deny me MY wishes. Also, would deny me my end of life wishes I have spelled out.

So here in my old age I have given into the hetero bastion of marriage. :)

GB member Dan Sydlik's Exile

i was talking to an ex-bethelite who was at the 'big house' in the late 60s and early 70s and he mentioned that daniel sydlik was exiled (asked to leave bethel) for a couple years when he married his wife (who at the time was very young and very much his junior).

according to this ex-bethelite, his marriage was somewhat controversial and they didn't want it to stumble anyone at the time, so he still stayed in the nyc area, but just not in bethel?

of course, this was when they had the corporation director format and before they officially adopted the governing body structure.

I thought they just put him out on the road instead. Going to all the various district conventions, special days, etc....for 2 or 3 years. Maybe they thought it would teach him humility....
