LOL Scots....So is your brother a hottie?
I found it to be fun to watch their faces recoil in horror when you apply their same logic to another similar incident....
Yet another example of how we really are shaped by our current thinking and mores of the day.

More than likely this will get turned down by a court of law under freedom of speech. These local ordinances have been overturned time after time in state and federal courts. Since the witnesses do not sell anything and are a non-profit entity the are exempt from having to get a solicitation license.
Now, the council could make people "serve notice" to the police telling them where they were going to be preaching. But those police could not interfere in any way shape or form with message, location, or duration of the preaching.
My grandfather & father have been city overseers, PO's, etc...so have seen alot of these things over the years....but I am not a lawyer!
I know we have a couple of lawyers on this chat board.....what is your understanding guys/gals???? -

There was an elder that I was out in service with one afternoon and durin lunch we got into a discussion about vegetarianism. I am a vegetarian and have been since having a "bad experience" with meat. (I don't care if others eat it, I just don't like it...so no judgements from me.) I mentioned to him jokingly that I was just preparing for the Paradise since everyone will be giving up meat in the new Paradise.
This elder told me that he was sure God would create a "meat tree" or something that beared fruit that tastes "just like meat". So I laughed and was teasing him with, "What is there going to be a "T-bone Tree" a "Veal Vine" a "Poultry Plant?" I asked him if he thought God really would do something like that and shouldn't we just get used to not eating it seeing we'd be in a Earthly Paradise.
So to my embarrasment later that evening at the KM meeting this elder had a part that he brought up this discussion we had. Of course, he mentiond me out by name, like I was someone underestimating Jehoba's creation ability. He went on to espouse his beliefs on what we could probably count on in the "New System".
So in part of the question and answering section I mentioned that I thought alot of the bros and sis were seemingly always painting the mental picture of a continual happiness frenzy. That we would never have an ok day, they would be only filled with wonderous, awesome, soul inspiring days. It also seemed like if we just made it to the New System we wouldn't EVER have to worry about anything ever again, worry about changing our habits, etc, that by being "Perfect" all these issues would just take care of themselves. It was if I just spoke in toungues.... everyone was staring at me in the dumbfounded way that they couldn't even comprehend what I was saying. It was if the goal of "just making it to the New System" was trial enough and they were never to be troubled or concerned with anything ever again. I mean how can the fantasy of that relate to the REALITY of a Paradise?!?
Anyone else out there have a similar disconnect when talking about the New System of things with JW's???? -

I think she was being rude, but she is still slaving away for that Harlot organization. She cannot free her mind and that's a shame, but I consider it punishment enough.

NOT ALLOWED TO RAPE....BUT
by tijkmo inwhen i was df i decided to use the time wisely and read the insight books which is how i came across this
the armies of pagan nations often raped the women of conquered cities, but not so the victorious soldiers of israel.
nor were they permitted for a month to marry a captive woman.

Peaceful Pete, thank you for the additional insight....
But you were not to eat shellfish and / or wear a cloth made of two threads. The OT law develed into LOTS of things and made punishment of "stoning" the activity of the day. So the OT did talk about what you should and should not eat. -

Not bitter or anything eh? LOL
Were they really smoking? If that's the case I'm going to assume they say nothing. But by you taking the first step by calling their Ex's is a good plan. But the "sisters" may try to stike first by saying they saw you there doing whatever wrong....celebrating a b=day, smoking, whatever. That way whatever you say will be secondary and would seem like you were trying to grind an axe against them for turning you in.
But as a bettin man I give you 90% odds they simply don't say anything. -

This is a perfect example of how you MUST, ABSOLUTELY MUST, take the bible's commands and such in perspective to the time frame it was written. This is where fundy's always get my ire up.... they pick and choose which of the OT laws that we should follow today. Given the time frame of some of those laws, they made sense...especially for cleaness back before we had sanitation sewers, anit - biotics, etc. The blood issue is a perfect example of this. It should have no bearing on us today for transfusion issues.

1975 - Lest We Forget
by GetBusyLiving ini find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

It the DESIRE TO BELIEVE!!! That's the sad thing. Since the Dub's have done sooo little to prepare my parents for their morality, now at age 62, their desire to believe is sooo strong because to admit that the past 40 years of their life has been a waste is just too huge of an issue. They put off living for the new system....they put off living so that they could preach....they put off living...so my dad could be home every night for meetings instead of traveling for biz making money...they put off living so that thier wants and desires were always secondary to what was expected....
THIS borg Needs to go down!!!
