I miss some, and pity them, but also disrespect them for their intellectual dishonesty.

jw inlaws cant visit us because we dont live near anywhere that they visit !
by looloo inhi all, ive not posted for a while ,but my mother told me that recently she saw my non practising ex elder fatherin law who still believes in "the truth" im married to his disfellowshipped son and we have a lovely little girl who they have not seen for 18 months despite living just a half hour drive away, anyway my mother told him that i had said him and his die hard jw wife would be most welcome to come and see us and the grandaughter they claim to be heartbroken about not seeing anymore since we left town and to just give us a ring first !
he replied " well that will be a bit difficult because they dont live anywhere near where we visit !
" my mother was too stunned to reply !

You're all better off without them! But that doesn't make it hurt any less.
It gets better with time. Mostly.

I thought that it was just about to tip, but he had more important things on his mind. Then Mr Frass pointed out that there was no way his father could have been in LA from Paris to greet him at the airport. Now I think that his father just had faith in him, and that he really did make it home.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using the 'health excuse'. You are entitled, firstly, because you're unwell,. but also because you're going through a bad thing and you shouldn't put any pressure on yourself. I suggest though, that when getting away from THAT, pick up THIS - something else, anything else, to distract yourself for a little while, or even to 'reboot'. Start with short, cheap night course, or some kind of hobby that throws you into a new crowd of people.
After being disfellowshipped I had my wedding to focus on, and since then I've been doing a degree. Five years later, it's nearly over, and all of those years that I would otherwise have been mooning and grieving, I've been changing, growing, improving my work choices, and moving right on. You have to actively seek change, for your life to change. Start small and you'll find yourself suddenly relieved of a whole lot of dumb stuff.

Debt Problems and Jehovah's Witnesses
by skeeter1 inwhat can you tell me about jehovah's witnesses and their individual debts?
- - do you see people get overextended on credit card debt?.
- - is there an atititude that since the armegheddon is going to come "any time" that it's ok to charge up the debt?.

I got myself into appalling credit card debt, but I don't know how much of a factor being a JW had to do with it. I just liked spending more than I earned. Over the years I'd consolidate the card debt into a personal loan, and it very slowly grew. I guess the fact that I wasn't ever planning to be a homeowner had something to do with it - if I'd been saving for a deposit I would have lived a lot more frugally.
I've sure turned it around though - woot!

A question for all Jehovah's Witnesses on here who truly believe
by Quillsky infirstly, i know that there are some really bright witnesses.
achievers, thinkers - it was partly my admiration for people like you that kept me in for so long.. "brother peter is such an intelligent man, he couldn't be wrong", was the way i thought.
i'm sure others felt the same way.

JWs having Facebook Sex - Strongly warned to get off FB at CA yesterday
by shopaholic inso it appears that jws are letting their freaky side come out on fb for everyone to see.. there was talk on the ca yesterday strongly warning all true lovers of jehovah to delete their fb accounts.
the talk was solely about fb.
the speaker mentioned that jws are associating with people that would not associate with in real life, often using the excuse that the person is a relative.

I love hearing absurd rules like this, it gives me hope for the JW young and restless. The difference between what Kids These Days are learning at school and what the GB were taught when they were there fifty years ago (before they left at age fourteen) is so distant, they can't even know how ignorant they look to teenagers now. More of that, I say. It costs them thousands of young members every time. Bring it on!

As a Woman Have your Attitudes Towards Men Changed After Exiting JW's ?
by flipper inbeing raised in the jehovah's witnesses cult from birth - i saw many females mistreated, abused in a demeaning manner whether subtly or right out in the open.
before congregation meetings in the 1960's even as a boy i saw an elder talk rudely to his wife as if she was a child- and the wife put her head down in sadness.
i saw jw men take themselves way too seriously as alleged " heads of their house " - because the wt society pushed the headship issue into every witness marriage.

I was disfellowshipped a few months before getting married, and The Headship Arrangment hungover for me for a little while. Like Mrs Jones, I mentioned it to my husband, that 'somebody has to have the final say', and like Mr Jones, my husband explained to me that no, we are a partnership. Bless our beautiful worldly men!
In reality I can't see how 'submission' would have worked out for me anyway, if I'd ever married a witness. In our life, each of us takes the senior role in different things. I happen to be good with the money, so that's one of my things. I wouldn't want to be in an arrangement where I couldn't control the things I want to control.
Good topic Mr Flipper! (As always..)

I've been labelled an apostate over Paedophile scandal - official
by James_Slash ini recieved this e-mail earlier today after making an issue out of the paedophile problem on my facebook page.
obviously, this person is a jw and someone must have snitched to her.. what did you think?.
hope you are well.

sass_my_frass
I told her that she uses the term 'apostate' so easily. Yet, the purpertrators of these crimes and the ones who support them are worthy of inheriting the kingdom? Are you telling me that your God and Jesus Christ support this conduct?
This was a really good response!
