How is your friend feeling about that; rejected? I'm just hoping that he doesn't feel like he has to be a better person before qualifying to study with them. Hopefully he can see that they're just ignorant, because the weren't able to handle a bit of questioning.

Study ended because he asked too many embarrassing questions.
by bronzefist innothing new here just a reminder to those who havent been to hall for awhile.. a workmate just had his study cut off.
there were some things he was being taught that he agreed with (trinity) some he didnt (faithful and discreet slave being a group of old men in ny).
here are a couple of interesting facts:.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Can you write the speech that you think they should have given, and present it to a few friends? Or just paste it onto a few anonymous discussion boards around the planet, so that at least it has been said?

Voting on hall decoration?
by stapler99 ini was just wondering what people's experiences with how the congregation decided how to decorate their hall, colour schemes and so on.
was the decision made by the boe without much consultation?
were many in the congregation upset at the choice?.

Yeah I remember that! We could choose between two almost identically bland combinations. It was voting on little things like decorating, and whether to donate $150 to the circuit overseer, that helped me believe that we were as much of a democracy as a theocracy.

My Story
by jwfacts ini received an email from a lawyer who has been studying with witnesses for some time.
he wanted to know my story, if i am disfellowshipped and if i have an axe to grind, in order to know if the information at jwfacts.com can be trusted.
i was raised a jw, my aunty and uncle, many cousins and grandparents are jws.

Just finished seeing Michael Moore's SiCKO
by Jourles ini just got home from bellaire, mi where the first us premiere screeing of sicko took place.
mm has shown the film to a few private groups, but he specifically said that we were the first "paying group" to see it.
there were two showings - i got to see the first showing at 1:00.. first let me say that this film is not political in any way.

You who live in the other above mentioned countries do not realize how well off you are in terms of medical care compared to us in the USA.
No, we really do know.

I suggest that you save it for when there is nothing left to say to the people who are in who you still love; you mention parents and grands. Your issue with your FIL should be separate. If you don't have the kind of relationship where you can express how you feel about what you consider his hypocrisy, you'll find that it's possible to keep him out of your life without a DA letter - screen call and don't return messages, don't contact him, if he sees you in person, politely disappear.
It isn't essential to keep these people in our lives, poisoning us.

My conversation with my semi-dub doctor
by willyloman ina doctor i visited is married to a dub from my old hall.
he is one of those husbands who was never baptized but comes to some meetings and "talks the talk," or at least some of it and professes belief but never goes all in.. i acquired him as part of a surgical team and only found out he was on that team when i went in for surgery.
he's been handling my follow up visits.

I'm convinced that the majority of JWs are as committed to it as the average person in what we used to call "Christendom" - you know those folk who "blah blah blah proved false to its power"? I think that a small proportion immerse themselves fully, get burned, leave, and end up in places like this licking their wounds (that would be us). The rest are happy to stay in the little club as long as the cost analysis stays in favour of it.

July KM - warning against active apostates - summary
by dozy inthe question box in july deals with the internet - mainly concerned with children on myspace & similar sites -mentioning that your child could be talking to paedophiles , dfd ones or even "active apostates" .
the main article deals with the - "exciting" and "thrilling" news of the new wt arrangement (maybe some people should get out more).
nothing new in the article , which has as the sole justification the need no longer to explain "theocratic" terms like "pioneer" , but it does seem that the awake will be tailored more to non-christian people.

Ban away, cupcakes. Children become teenagers who fight everything; they'll find a place too look up nasty apostates if they want to. Teenagers become adults who get their own place where they can download whatever they want.
