I could have done a lot with the first thirty years of my life (or, I could have wasted it in an entirely different way). It was a boring predictable life. I'm glad it's over, but it could have been a lot worse, so I'm happy to let it go.

Did you secretly not want studies and rv's?
by new light ini remember going out in circus because it was what we did.
the idea of having to conduct a study or being responsible for a return visit and, therefore, eternal state of existence, caused knots in the stomach and massive dread.
actually having to commit to field circus long term with no hope of escape to save someone's life was a real downer.

I only studied with JW kids, and their parents generally fed me prior to a meeting, so I appreciated the easy time. Also, I'm sure my rvs were all just the polite type; too kind to tell me what a beetroot I was and to tell me to bugger off. I appreciated the easy time from them also; large territory, lots of driving from one end to the other, this is the way we pioneer.

HOW LONG DO JWS BELIEVE ABORIGINES HAVE BEEN IN AUSTRALIA?
by badboy init is reputed that aborigines have been in oz for about 60,000 years.. what do jws have to say about this?.

This was a major wake-up for me. I couldn't work out how marsupials had made it to Australia, and now exist only in Australia, and that happened in only 4000 years. Then I was able to accept that radiocarbon dating is perfectly accurate for that timescale, thanks very much, and that yes, homo sapiens have in fact been in Australis for many tens of thousands of years. The only possible way was for the flood to be a complete fable. What else is a fable, then?
Helped a lot. Any time I talked to a witness about it, I came across The Wall.

Stay or leave your spouse after leaving JWs - Do you have regrets?
by Awakened at Gilead ini am in a situation that many of you have faced... whether to stay with my spouse or not after having learned the falsehood of the org.. my wife is diehard witness who gets upset whenever i talk about the org negatively.
she is not happy that i am on jwd... in fact the other day she picked up the keyboard and wanted to throw it accros the room or bash me with it when she saw i was on jwd... she is also very upset about me making friends with "apostates" and worldly people, and told me never to bring them to our home!
this concerns me, since i am not going to have any friends in the org, and i need at least a few friendships...she doesn't want me to talk to the friends in the cong about my decision so that i don't share my doubts.

I can only answer this from a different point of view: I met my husband when I was a witness. He wasn't and secretly yearned for me to wake up to myself. What's relevant to your story is that if I hadn't turned the page (and I still don't know how that happened) I'd be your wife (well, you know what I mean). He was willing to take a risk on that, but he didn't truly know what that would mean; he still can't fathom the disfellowshipping and the way my JW family treats us. You DO know what it means for you to not be a witness anymore. For her; you're not a part of what is the most important thing in her life. For you; you can't attain the social, emotional and intellectual freedom you will yearn for. It's hard to say, but if I had decided to stay a witness, we'd both be miserable if we'd tried to stay married.
Keep it together bro.

Knocking on the Doors of Classmates out in service
by new light incould anything have been more embarrassing?
you could be at the door of the least popular munger in school, but overwhelmed with envy because, hey, at least he was doing something normal.
in 8th grade, at the peak of childhood self-consciousness, i knocked on the door of a super popular, rich, "in" kid from my class and he answered the door.

That was the first thing I hated about going out on the preach; and my stress levels would go up according to proximity to home neighbourhood also! By high school though, our entire territory covered my high school zone, so there was always a chance of seeing somebody from school. It didn't go away when I started working, because I was working in the inner city and even when going out in a friends territory there was a chance (small I knew, but not impossible, and that's all it took) that I would see somebody from work.
Not long after school I got the door of the most violent she-wolf bully from year 10. She was still a loser, still a bogan, has probably od'd since bereaving an assortment of illegits each fathered by a different maggot, and she was still able to make me feel like a doofus.

Wife sent me a newspaper article....
by oneairhead init was a little jdub kid that wrote a little essay in a local paper in the north east.
they wrote that they were not deprived of anything, the whole party line about no holidays and the like.
you know this kid did this just for the attention of his parents and the hall.

You should see my baptism photo. No, you really should; seen in the state paper by every person I've ever been to school, college, uni, or work with. Geez.

Having a Baby......?
by LouBelle inso i'll be turning 32 soon.
my life has been mostly pleasant.
i don't have any 5 year plan or anything like that, but i do want to be a mom no later than 34. i am single, no great love of my life, not even someone to like out there at the moment.

My vote is for adoption too. IVF destroys a lot of marriages; it would be even harder if you were single. Then when it finally works, it turns out it's only the beginning!

Who knows what is really going on with them? Maybe your bum workmate has some info on them that would cost them if they fired him.
