Just stay in touch with them both, and ignore the elephant. Just make sure that they're both comfortable talking to you about whatever. He's an adult now, he has to work this out himself.

My EX still has a hold on our son....
by nomoreguilt ina couple of weeks ago i had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with my younger son, 30. he hasn't been to meetings in over 2 years and i was able to help him move in with his girlfriend,22, not a jw a month or so earlier.
he'hasn't been df'd, as of yet for that , although i know that there are probaby those who have the opportunity to do him in.
i really don't know yet whether he is happy in his new lfe, but i do know that he still holds the desire to some day go back.

I don't think so. I think this is just getting started, and it's going to be the biggest depression of our lives.

JWs say its impossible for "worldly people" to be happy
by shopaholic ini've had 3 different jws tell me this over the past few weeks.
basically their thinking is non-jws are not happy and when they appear to be its not real, its not a true happiness.
according to them, non-jws use drugs, alcohol and wild sex to make themselves happy.

I'm really very happy and I'm not a JW. I know I'm happier as a 'worldly person' exactly because when I was a JW I was so depressed I needed antidepressants, and now I don't. Pretty simple for me.

Very little - maybe a couple of hundred dollars in my life. These days my hubby and I actually 'tithe' (we pay a tenth of our net to charities). Neither of us have a god, so we like to call it the 'tithe'. For a couple of years we used it to run our own charity, but now I'm generally giving it to cancer charities.

Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !
by Simon inas i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/.
it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

I remember an elder waxing about a Lord of the Rings preview that you'd only have seen if you'd been at a Harry Potter movie.
But really, who cares that witnesses go to the movies?

I imagine it will be popular in Australia, and the rest of the world will find it quite average. Another country's patriotism is quite boring; eg, Pearl Harbour, or The Patriot.

Brothers who were Gay but couldn't admit/accept it! Did you have some?
by Witness 007 ini have come to realize that being gay is something you are just born with....so why judge them if it's like being born a certain race.. a brother g_____ i knew was a zealous pioneer pushing 43 years old.
he never married though the sisters thought he was dreamy and he had plenty of offers....."she's not for me" he would always, many times tell me some excuse.
he loved to give only brothers a big hug...say if you gave a public talk or something.

I can think of five just off the top of my head, they're all still witnesses, they're all still happily tortured.

Spartacus
by sass_my_frass ini watched spartacus the other day and was reminded of every district convention drama i've ever seen; the style of music, the style of cheesy 'olden times' garb, the way men treat women, the corny dialogue, the way the 'loose' women were supposed to have dressed (they all wore fluoro nylon shifts apparently, with gold braid criss-crossing their cleavage just so), the melodrama, the righteousness... ah the fifties.. and yet, it was still the most interesting thing that happened for three days, at any dc..
