I'm with whyizit and odrade: they're probably monumentally confused about how you feel about different things. You might have been weird about these events when you were a JW and now you're out they don't know whether you've changed your mind on them.

My mum had the book study moved from their house so she could come to my wedding. I live a six-hour flight away.

Lakota Indian tribe is now its own nation!
by skeeter1 inlakota indians withdraw treaties signed with u.s. 150 years agothursday, december 20, 2007. .
washington the lakota indians, who gave the world legendary warriors sitting bull and crazy horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the united states.. "we are no longer citizens of the united states of america and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,'' long-time indian rights activist russell means said.. a delegation of lakota leaders has delivered a message to the state department, and said they were unilaterally withdrawing from treaties they signed with the federal government of the u.s., some of them more than 150 years old.. the group also visited the bolivian, chilean, south african and venezuelan embassies, and would continue on their diplomatic mission and take it overseas in the coming weeks and months.. lakota country includes parts of the states of nebraska, south dakota, north dakota, montana and wyoming.. the new country would issue its own passports and driving licences, and living there would be tax-free - provided residents renounce their u.s. citizenship, mr means said.. the treaties signed with the u.s. were merely "worthless words on worthless paper," the lakota freedom activists said.. withdrawing from the treaties was entirely legal, means said.. "this is according to the laws of the united states, specifically article six of the constitution,'' which states that treaties are the supreme law of the land, he said.. "it is also within the laws on treaties passed at the vienna convention and put into effect by the us and the rest of the international community in 1980. we are legally within our rights to be free and independent,'' said means.. the lakota relaunched their journey to freedom in 1974, when they drafted a declaration of continuing independence an overt play on the title of the united states' declaration of independence from england.. thirty-three years have elapsed since then because "it takes critical mass to combat colonialism and we wanted to make sure that all our ducks were in a row,'' means said.. one duck moved into place in september, when the united nations adopted a non-binding declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples despite opposition from the united states, which said it clashed with its own laws.. "we have 33 treaties with the united states that they have not lived by.
they continue to take our land, our water, our children,'' phyllis young, who helped organize the first international conference on indigenous rights in geneva in 1977, told the news conference.. the u.s. "annexation'' of native american land has resulted in once proud tribes such as the lakota becoming mere "facsimiles of white people,'' said means.. oppression at the hands of the u.s. government has taken its toll on the lakota, whose men have one of the shortest life expectancies - less than 44 years - in the world.. lakota teen suicides are 150 per cent above the norm for the u.s.; infant mortality is five times higher than the u.s. average; and unemployment is rife, according to the lakota freedom movement's website..

Hi, welcome and congratulations on your disfellowshipping (and commisserations....)
It's funny though I've gotten dozens of phone calls from witnesses locally that are outraged about this whole thing and still want to be friends with me. So maybe I'll be ok. I think I pissed the elders off when I called all my friends and said goodbye to them. Unfortunatly my disfellowshipping seems to be stumbling a lot of ppl.
You did good - showing a JW the injustice of your situation is one of the best ways through to them, and you deserve to. A few of them might change their minds, and I found that most people are only okay with me contacting them, they don't want to make the first move. Nearly three years later I've lost interest in keeping them in my life because of those kind of games.
It hurts like hell, but not for long. It is important that you stay connected with people for a while - pick up some new interesting hobbies and things that will occupy your mind and distract you from that ugliness. I started a degree! You'll find soon that most people are actually pretty great, and you'll be just fine without the people you thought were your 'friends'.

Can I be DF'd
by Robert7 inso the reality is, .
- i am in 'good standing'.
- i am questioning/doubting the validity of the bible.
-

Yes, you can. If that bothers you, best not to take a chance on the elders; if they ask you anything, be prepared with an answer that won't get you into trouble.
You're better off not being in a situation where they are able to ask you anything at all. They won't make contact with you unless prompted (by you or somebody else) so if you're worried about it, don't give them or anybody a reason. Stay off their radar.

Nicely handled. A good start towards a very merry christmas. If you feel a bit gutted every now and then, that's normal for a disfellowshippee.
You're going to be great.

So why would an active JW be trying to help me here at JWD?
by oompa indon't take this wrong i appreciate kind words or good advice from anyone.
got lot's of nice pm's recently from some concerned ones here this week....but i got two from a jw lady, that i had explained i had some lingering issues with being taught me and my parents would never get old and die....among other things....she said:.
i don't recall ever being told i would never die.

How about my 'resurrection lightbulb moment' solution:
Lady, when you die, Jehovah will store your DNA and all your thoughts experiences and memories in the big book of life. In the resurrection, he will create a perfect copy of your body and install all your thoughts experiences and memories in it. The problem: it won't be you in paradise, it will be your clone. Your body either decayed away or was incinerated, and your soul 'went out' when you died just like turning the lights off. If you die before Armageddon, you will never see the paradise.
Bummer hey?

Where have you turned to?
by Robert7 ini am very curious, since i am myself trying to figure out where to turn to, if anywhwere.
(i am still debating if i am truly an atheist at heart and religion in general turns me off at least as of now) where have you turned to since you left the wt?
i would imagine that many people who became witnesses had spiritual needs (which is ironic why i am feeling atheist, lol) but have you gone to other churches, stopped going to church, become atheist, etc?
