Well I am a redhead and grandparents on one side are very Irish and the other grandparents are Welsh. But I was born and raised in the good old USA. I would LOVE to visit England and Ireland some day.

Anybody Irish?
by love2Bworldly inhello, have not posted in quite some time.
i put up some st. patrick's decorations at work, including one of those demonized little leprechauns, and enjoyed the look of a jw i work with when she came into the office this morning.
you know the look of pretending they didn't notice those evil holiday decorations?

The Worst Public Talk Ever
by onesong inwhat was the absolute worst pt you had to sit thru?.
i was thinking that for me the worst outline is "get a firm hold on the real life".
yes a life constricted by endless and ever changing rules, burdened by guilt, fear and obligation, and all the while hoping for an empty promise has got to be the "real life"

Actually 2 talks come to my mind.
The first one--the brother was describing the New System and how he could throw his glasses away and he made a gesture by taking his glasses off and pretending to throw them. I have the last laugh on that brother--I had Lasik surgery a few months ago and guess what! I threw out my glasses and not because of the New System!
The second one is the last public talk I ever attended. The brother said we should be single like the angels are, who are happy having sexless lives. Ugggghhhhh!!!

When I was involved with the Witlesses, I didn't have a family in the troof or an elder dad and I was not a pioneer, so that pretty much meant you were on your own. I am so glad I wasn't popular though because I was able to fade out and no one seemed to notice.

Do you still believe?
by Chimene ini have found a lot of people no longer believe in god or jesus since leaving the organization.. im very shocked at this.
if you dont believe, can you tell me what brought to that conclusion?.
i was told to look at the thread that one of the members in this forum has created, they are very interesting, but i wanted to get a some feed back from different individuals.. thanks!

I don't know what I believe anymore. It took me many years to realize the JWs were full of bull poop, and I've been to various churches since my exit. The church I used to go to made the most sense, it was "Church of Christ" and they taught metaphysical stuff and reincarnation. They taught that Jesus was a great and unique man/or god, but so was Buddah, Allah etc etc. They taught that thinking positive thoughts can improve your life and things along those lines. I'm thinking of going back, but haven't done so yet.
It's getting harder and harder for me to take the Bible literally. I have such a hard time comprehending all the terrible fates wonderful people in the world suffer, while evil people get away with so much madness and evil.

Welcome! Be glad you are obtaining your education now before getting tied down with family & kids. I need to go back to school, but so far have only occasionally taken a night class. I plan to take more, but a little at a time since I have a family and full time job.
Sometimes I so resent all those stupid talks and Botchtower articles on how evil obtaining further education is!

People who never cry....
by JH in.
does this mean that they have less feelings, or that they were taught not to show their feelings, or they don't have any?

I used to cry at absolutely everything--I felt like such an emotional wreck. Then I went through 2 divorces and had to raise 3 kids on my own. I learned to hold stuff in because I didn't want my kids to see me fall apart; I had to be the strong one because I felt bad for all the bad times my kids had gone through, and I don't like to make my kids sad.
Now I just get stomach aches instead. Healthy huh?

long years of brainwashing finally come to an end.....
by girl_interrupted inhi everyone, i'm new here......basically, i found this website a couple of weeks ago when i was in dire need of some like-minded souls who had felt screwed up about the jw's.
from about the age of four/five, my parents and i were involved in the organisation, and all three of us are stil messed up because of it.....we are no longer involved in it, but it took quite a few years before my parents found the strength to leave.
to begin with, i was quite a zealous jw, was baptised at twelve and disfellowshipped at fourteen, because as i got older i began to grow ''weak in the truth'' as people so kindly described me!

Welcome! Encourage your family to visit this site too, it can be very healing. (just ignore some of the idiots who post here in direct violation of the JW Watchtower rules)

Very Very sad. Typical Jdub Love
by Ticker ini wanted to share this recent incident and it really pi$$es me off.
i called my grandfather yesterday who is a believing but inactive jw due to health reasons.
he is 83 and in very poor health and is alone since his wife died 3 years ago.

This reminds me of that scripture the Jdubs quote daily--"this is how you will know my true disciples, showing love among themselves" or something like that.
Biggest HYPOCRITES on the planet! The Mormons are so much more giving to the community and their country than the Jdumbs are.
