Welcome all you new posters! I am a little shocked by the sheer number of new ones responding to this topic and all the elders. Wow, maybe there is hope for those brainwashed JWs yet.

Say You're a Bethelite & Monitoring JWD - How Would You Feel About THESE??
by Seeker4 ini'm talking about the new posters, like kitten whiskers, who started posting today (hope this works: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/120817/1.ashx).
and it seems like we're getting a few like this nearly every day.
people who were raised jws, really worry that they are doing the right thing in leaving, yet who have been made to feel not good enough by the wts, who felt they never measured up, who struggled with it, but came to realize that what they'd been brought up to believe was just not the truth.. the same stories are told over and over again, and they come from sincere, good people - not whiny, fault-finding apostates like the rest of us riffraff around here!

(if i knew how to link better, i might be able to do this right...).
i found this on the internet... it may be 'old news' - but it is interesting.

Wish I could add to your response, that JWs are required to turn in a monthly report of preaching hours or they are marked as 'weak' in the congregation and get privileges taken away. (Excuse me while I barf.)

by mama1119 ini just had this funny memory pop up.
as jw, we were not allowed to cuss, right??

Should I decorate or not - ?
by AK - Jeff infor the two xmas's we have been 'out', wifey and i have celebrated christmas quietly with the grandkids and a few family.
although we have had a tree - somewhat hidden from view inside - we have not ever put a light or decoration outside.
this week i proposed to wifey that i light the large conifer in the back yard this season.

I love all the holidays, especially Christmas! One time my JW sister was in town and stopped by my apartment--it was in October and I had Halloween lights and all kinds of decorations the kids had made plastered on the windows and walls. She never said a word, I was kind of surprised.

POs son--absolutely true!!! So sad at the same time.
Day in the life of a 13 year old JW:
Dress for school; make sure clothes don't look worldly, be careful of make-up and jewelry. During morning national anthem and flag salute: walk to back of classroom and sit in chair/then stand for salute. Keep to yourself, can't have worldly friends. Obey all school rules, finish all homework, be a teacher's pet, suffer extreme depression while sticking out like a sore thumb at school, don't dress up for any theme days at school, don't celebrate any holidays, can't say Bless You when someone sneezes, can't say Merry Christmas or have a nice holiday. Don't sign up for afterschool sports, don't attend any dances/sports events/other school events, no dating worldly people, no dating at all unless you plan to get married soon, be careful of PG movies, no R movies, etc., etc., etc. Feel guilty 24 hours a day due to not preaching enough at school and to worldly relatives. Feel left out at the Kingdom Hall because I don't have an elder father or am just not part of the IN-CROWD

What used to REALLY ANNOY me as a JW, is that we got counseled for using substitute words like 'darnit' 'gosh' 'dang'.
Could never make them happy!!!

Front Door Sign Idea?
by Asheron inno soliciting!.
(unless you are someone under the age of 12 selling something sweet, like cookies or candy, at a price not to exceed $2.00, for your scout troop, sports team, or church group.
i?m sympathetic to child slave labor, i like kids, and i like cookies even better.).

SailorRipley--One more thing: I had a postcard from New York City that was a picture of a window seemingly on top of a building with spray-painted writing next to it, which read, "Come inside, I want to hurt you." That might work, except it breaks the "girl-scout cookie okay" rule. LMAO That is hilarious, I'm trying to picture myself posting a sign that says that. That cracks me up.

Welcome!
This is a great place to learn. I have learned so so much about a lot of false teachings, historical stuff that the average JW has no knowledge of--some of the earlier bogus teachings etc.
Hope you plan to celebrate Christmas and all the holidays with your kids, it is a lot of fun, and I'm glad my kids had a much more normal childhood than mine.

If Money Were No Object, What Hobby(s) Would You Pursue?
by Stephanus ini'd probably have a pretty well stocked backyard machine shop, complete with lathe(s), milling machine, welding gear, etc.
i'm a fitter and turner by trade, so it kind of makes sense...

First I would pursue 'restoring' my fortyish body--hire a personal trainer, get in awesome shape, lots of spa treatments, remove all the purple veins from my legs--then I would travel to places with beautiful beaches where I could wear a skimpy bathing suit and look awesome!
Then I would do some kind of a non-profit company that helps foster kids become independent and go to college.
