  i'm looking into doing a documentary on the wtbts.

  some years ago there was a documentary called "harlan county, usa", that dealt with an on going coal strike.

  I hear ya MrFreez....haven't worked out details, however, all people would be anonymous unless they chose not to be. I'm thinking a 10 to 15 min video clip from individual's would be great. For anonymity a persons face can be distorted. Any footage of assemblies, memorial, quick build, kh meetings and so forth could be used as well. Bible Students and other Adventist's would be welcome to speak their mind.

  Right now my interest is to see if anyone would care to participate in such a project. Don't have to reply to the thread, PM me. All ideas and thoughts are most welcome.

  i really have nothing much more to say, except to say thank you to all the people who have contributed to me in my threads and all the people whom i battled over the years.

  the battles have been most entertaining and enlightening.

  i've learned a great deal from them, and i've laughed a great deal from the idiotic attempts of fools to make a coherent argument (think "dubs").. it's been a roller-coaster ride for me over a decade and it has consumed a huge amount of my time.

  Well Mr. Farkel, you've probably helped more people than you realize. If for nothing else folks know where you stand on an issue. They sure don't go away muttering "Now, what did that guy mean?" Have always enjoyed your posts and comments. Do continue to drop by and give us a reality check....metaphoricly speaking that is.

  I'm looking into doing a documentary on the wtbts. Some years ago there was a documentary Called "Harlan County, USA", that dealt with an on going coal strike. There was no narrative. The documentary was compiled and edited footage of people, from both sides, talking about the situation and effect the strike had on their lives, It was done sometime in the late sixties, early seventies. Believe it won an Academy Award.

  This would not be a project to Rip the wt...current jw's, ex-jw's even Bible Students would be en-couraged to take part. Simple folks, no matter their current beliefs, speaking out about their interaction with the society. How the wt has effected their lives past, present, future. Don't know how long it would take, or what would be needed to pull things to-gather. Maybe it's all ready been done, more than once.

  As stated, this would be a straight up expose of the wtbts. Positive and negative, let the people tell their story. Apologist and apostate, with Bible Students and other Adventist's contributing as well. Let me know what you think.

  Shy JW at the door ... the pain of it

  someone tweeted today: "a jehovah's witness who is shy to people at the door.

  those few words paint such a sad picture.

  how many jws with little self-esteem and self-confidence, particularly born-ins who have never known anything different, are sent out into neighbourhoods to knock on the doors of strangers and speak to them, knowing the householder resents them being there?

  Never gave much thought to anyone being shy, or uncomfortable going house to house. I'm one of those that knocking doors never bothered me...nor giving talks...there was a time when I came to dislike fs. Don't know if it holds true today, but in the late sixties the society decided we no longer needed to work doors in pairs, could cover more territory if we went single. That's when I lost interest in going door to door. Also realized around this time that fs was ineffective drudge work.

  The only time I can remember being embarrassed was knocking on a door, when it opened there was my 7th grade English teacher...: Quentin, what are you doing here? Me: um-er...humina, humina, humina, well um, er..... . Most of my peers and teacher's never knew I was a jw...Spent the rest of field time sticking wt/awakes and tracts in doors.

  How do you CHALLENGE yourself? Self-Improvement topic

  this is an important topic for me.. ever since i was a kid i was interested in self-improvement.. it was the result of my grandfather, surely.. .

  here is what my grandad (i called him, paw paw) would do to challenge me.. .

  he knew kids always need money to buy "stuff" and go places and do things.

  Read....I read everything I can get my hands on...ficton, non-fiction, doesn't matter. I like to be challenged by other's. When in college the biology instructor gave an assignment for extra credit. He wanted a five to six page paper written about the "Jukes and the Kallichaks". That's all the information he gave; "Write a paper on the Jukes and the Kallichaks" No Internet, all leg work at the college library, and public library.

  Read....belive me that can be tough, some things are hard to read, especially if you don't like the subject, or author. Research, dig into things. Both sides of an issue. It's the only way to be well rounded. Be open to ideas, understand an others POV.

  So they say to refresh, feed, visit, comfort ect the brothers of Christ is to do it now. Of course it can mean now, but it really means them. They are dead, yes, but they are not dead when they are alive. By our responding favorably to what they have worked hard to do is to encourage them.

  This gave me a headace....C.T. and Rutherford weren't madmen, or unhinged.......Freddie? different story....
