That's an oldie. That story, or variations, has been around the block several times.

by ValiantBoy ini have a cool evangelical friend that send me inspirational forwarded emails...uggh..love her to death, but find the emails annoying at times.
here's the latest..does it sound at all familiar?

What religion have you changed to now that no longer a witness?
by AK - Jeff ini know many have rejected the idea of organized religion.
i teeter on that myself.
but i have toyed with hooking to a little country church with some friendly people to associate with.

Diest, along the lines of Jefferson and Payne.

Introducing myself
by bitca ini've been lurking here for a while, so i figured it's time for me to introduce myself.

As JWs, ever met any annointed ?
by greendawn inin your time as jws did you ever meet any of the annointed?
did they have good christian personalities and what did they think of the wts and its governing body ?
i met one and he was very unhappy with the way the gb treated him and generally the way they run this society, he told me he wrote them two letters containing a long list of complaints with full scriptural support but he was ignored, first letter got a reply amounting to "no need to write to us" the second one no reply at all.

Yes, when I was younger. An older gentelman in our Hall. My dad and he spent much time togather. He was a stone mason and had built rock houses all over Texas, last of a dying breed. Very down to earth. Can only remember his first name, Joe.

"I'm of the opinion that a four year degree in any field accomplishes a few things, but mainly gives the student an ability to think, argue, and form an opinion for himself/herself. That's what the WTBS is afraid of....people who think and ask questions!" Couldn't have said it better. 30, 40,or 50 when you go concentrate on what interests you, I did sociology, anthropology and history, now I'm a Land Surveying Tech, go figure. Whatever you do, do it because YOU LIKE/ENJOY it. A friends father told us once: "a college degree shows you can be trained". I like to think it shows a little more than that, but I got the point.

I went to college in my early 40s. One of the best things I ever did.

Name Things You Can Get Counseled,Reproved or Disfellowshipped For
by minimus insince the jw religion is sooooo restrictive, it is good to think about just how wacky this cult is.....for example, you can get counseled for buying a 2 door car as opposed to a "pioneer" car (4 door).

I'm stuned. I mean...jeez...I left in '74 and don't mean to say that it was a kinder, gentler org. back then. JWs got counsled about things, like two door cars, but damnation, not anything like I'm reading here.
