Where did this "God lives in the Pleiades" notion come from?
by james_woods inthe other thread with this name in the title made me think of it again.. i know the witnesses used to say this - and for sure, there are other religions that think this as well.. the fundy-baptist preacher that my sister got to do my fathers funeral made a big deal of it during the service - (why, i cannot fathom...).. so, can some kind scholar here give us a short course in why this particular star formation is so most holy?.

I have seen so many Facebook comments about this, along the lines of "Jehovah will comfort the family during this awful time."
Well, that's mighty big of him.
He's does absolutely f---all to protect individuals that believe in him, but he always shows up just in time to provide comfort.
Reminds me of people who are never around to help when you really need it, but show up just after such help is no longer necessary, and provide sympathy for the situation after the fact.
What 's the point in believing in such a worthless being as this?

I have a co-worker who tells me a funny family story: He asked his dad about the quandary he was in for this election, since his dad believes completely that Obama is a Muslim, and the only other choice is Mitt Romney, a Mormon. For, you see, a few years earlier, a family member was getting married to a Mormon, and this caused great distress to his dad. He actually made a point to do a lot of research, type up a report, and have a family meeting, wherein he presented the Mormons as so spiritistic that they were practically Satanists. So, he asks his dad, are you going to vote for a Satanist since you won't vote for a Muslim? The next day, my co-worker receives an email from his dad, with a sermon attached from a Baptist minister. The sermon extols the virtues of the Mormon religion, how family focused it is, how devout they are in their service, how they are practically as good as Baptists! So, in order to combat the election of the evil, communistic, non-White, Muslim,Manchuiran Candidate, Mitt's Mormonism is being rehabilated from a non-Christian, weird cult to an American religion with only slightly different beliefs. It would be funny, if it wasn't so sadly desperate and pathetic.

7. Women don't like time wasters. If your evening results in carnal coupling, finish up as fast as you can, and then leave immediately afterward. This shows that you resepect her time and her privacy.

Mrs. Jones- Sesame Street and The Electric Company used a lot of "New York Actors" in there show. And some of these actors took work where and when it came. Skip Hinnant, who played on the Electric Company, was the voice of Fritz in "Fritz the Cat" the very first X-Rated animated movie.
A lot of other actors were seen on Sesame Street before they moved on to other things:
Raul Julia
Stockard Channing
Paul Benedict
and others.
My favorite part in "Shaft" is where Richard Roundtree smashes through his window in his upstairs office to escape the bad guys. Later in the day, he returns to his office, and his windows is completely restored (and this is one of those multi pane jobs). Great stuff!
