You're right Jim....the birds DO have some sort of "food radar"! I don't know if they see it...or smell it...or what; but they sure know it's there!
Now if I could just get those pesky squirrels to lose my address!!
i have spent numerous hours trying to outwit the squirrels.
i thought i had them licked with my own invention.
i had a 10 foot 1 inch metal pole that i greased with silicone, that i placed between a tree branch and a 6 foot fence.

when i was in bethel, i noticed this, and of course more now.. there are those big buildings in brooklyn, the huge watchtower sign, that big clock facing manhattan.
everyone in bethel has those haircuts, clothes are pressed.
everyone is at morning worship.
Your topic reminded me of a book that explains what keeps the JW in the Watchtower Organization...and why. The book is called, Captives of a Concept, by Don Cameron. I'm sure many on here have read it.
It's an excellent book, and explains that it is the CONCEPT-- that the WTS is God's true organization on earth -- that keeps the JW CAPTIVE to it.
so all of you that are trying to help your family and friends as a disassociated person, or disfellowshipped, or sort-of-shunned.. what do you think about getting reinstated or reactivated to help them get out?.
the time invested would be two meetings a week, about 6 hours total including driving.
for those on the outside, you would have to get reinstated, so you would need 2-3 months of going to meetings making sure the elders see you and know your intention.. add field service in there.
BonaFide,
I have to commend you! I can't say I know what you're going through, but I can certainly imagine how HARD it must be....to go back into the WTS....to rescue your loved ones from this cult. What you're doing is out of pure love for your family, and may God bless your endeavor.
I wish you all the best...as you go "under the radar"......

Restrangled,
My Yankee Flipper arrived today...but guess what? One of the little green tabs on the screw-on base had broken off! Waaaaaaa! We noticed something was rattling when we were unpacking it. I am so disappointed! I contacted the seller, and he's going to get ahold of the manufacturer. He said they'd send me a new screw-on base.
Apparently, those little plastic tabs have been causing a big problem for them. If they'd just make the base out of metal, that would eliminate the problem.
So, I have to wait some more until I can watch the squirrels go airborn!! Darn, darn, darn!!
Happy Mother's Day, Grace!
My son won't acknowledge me anymore on Mother's Day, because he's a JW. That really, really hurts.....and it doesn't seem to get any easier each year. I don't think he realizes how much it saddens a mother to be ignored on Mom's Day.
How many children do you have? Are they JWs?

BTS -- You're fortunate you have lots of bats. They keep the pesky flying insect population down. I'd love to put up Purple Martin houses (they eat flying insects too)....but we have so many large trees around our property. The Martins like to have their houses in OPEN areas.
I think a bat house would be a great idea!

I brake for squirrels too! I'd feel awful if I ever hit one. Almost did one time.....and when I swirved, I almost got into an accident. You just never know which way those little stinkers are going to run!
But, like restrangled said, when they hog all the birdseed and damage our feeders.....that's when we have to take action. Thus the Yankee Flipper! Heh heh Thanks for all the info on it, restrangled. Am really looking forward to getting mine!
Stinkin' raccoons! This is the price we pay living the country life, I guess.
she's having computer problems and needs any help you can give her.
"my jw friend just handed me pages 783-793 from the book resurrection.
i have been able to find info.

"My JW friend just handed me pages 783-793 from the book Resurrection . I have been able to find info. on the internet that picks WTS books apart, but am rather short on time. Wondered if anyone already has a place they could refer me to that goes over the Res. book and the inconsistencies? (I like using WTS material she has handed me, because then she can't accuse me of any funny business.)
Also, if you have any good suggestions on thought-provoking questions I could ask regarding the resurrection the WTS teaches, that would be great.
She is also wanting to teach me all about the "kingdom". Questions I could be ready with for that subject would be great as well.
Thanks for any help."

We just had one of our birdfeeders almost destroyed by a raccoon last night. We heard a ruckus on the upper deck. He had climbed the deck support and started to try to rip open our finch feeder. Crikey!....I guess we'll have to bring the feeders in at night now!! What a hassle that's gonna be! Darn critters!!
Restrangled -- I'm expecting my Yankee Flipper on Monday or Tuesday! Can't wait!

Wow, Magwitch.....is your cat a Siamese? They seem to be the best hunters.
