On the very positive side, this makes a clear mark for you now!

ever heard of anyone leaving the jw's and becoming, say, a scientologist?
or a morman?
or a member of any other crazy cultish org?
to go along with what GBL said, i think especially for those of us that were raised a JW, that structure and dependency is the only way we understand how to function after leaving. it takes time to sit back and really figure out our own moral code and our own personal opinions on things. some don't take that step and crave the dependency they used to have so they find it elsewhere.
Excellent points! That potential VOID is what I seem to fear the most. Even at my age, i'll be a sitting duck for whatever else comes along.
I literally have known NOTHING ELSE in my entire life (& i'm only halfway through)!
I'm thankful that the I-net is, at least, allowing me a vehicle for getting throught these initial stages.
my wifes biggest fear at this point is what if sheis wrong about the wts and they are really right.
i told her even if they are right or wrong it doesnt matter.
reason is she knows she would be miserable if she joined them.
Excellent!
sucks.,..just venting.
i changed that little girl's diapers too, and still love her.
Sorry to hear that Dude! I'm sure that she still loves you so much.
When I was at the height of my JW-dom, I didn't invite my brother to my wedding. It hurt like hell that I felt that I couldn't. I was so damn loyal to the org!
It still hurts me to this day that I was such a spiritual jerk!
I know its no excuse, but what a trance I was in!
good or bad day and why?.
i guess bad.
i am so sad today and i don't know how to make the sadness go away.
Wonderful Day!
I'm meeting new people here, online.
This part of the journey has many ups & downs, but today is definitely an UP!
Enjoy while you can, but if you miss it, another great day will surely come along!
i was a jw for 40 years.
although as an individual/cong/body of elders holy spirirt was prayed for, i cannot think of one moment when i thought..right now i have gods spirit acting upon me.
it was never described adequately for me to completely understand and i suspect that others felt the same, yet everyone talked as though they knew exactly how it worked.
i remember one particularly heated elders' meeting.
tempers were flaring, fingers were pointing and the discussion started to get loud & un-christian.
i asked that we stop and ask for hs.
after a short prayer, everybody calmed down and we eventually moved forward.
did it work? at the time, i thought so, but maybe 'let's stop for ice cream' would have had the same effect.
.
i have friends who have put together this page, i would like to know your opinion on it.. http://www.fortunecity.co.uk/jodrellbank/hyperdrive/479/knowledge_book.htm.
randy.
imho: This would be a hard one to sell. I too, think that reasoning on their own wt statements has more impact.
i was just at quotes' site when it just quit working.
when i tried to back out to the former page/site it wouldn't let me.
i had to close the browers and start a new one.. i've tried several times to go back to his site and all i got was an error message.

Please note the new light in the following updated understanding:
"A Time to Keep Awake"
"Eager to see the end of this evil system, Jehovah's people have at times speculated about the time when the "great tribulation" would break out, even tying this to calculations of what is the lifetime of a generation since 1914. However, we "bring a heart of wisdom in," not by speculating about how many years or days make up a generation, but by thinking about how we "count our days" in bringing joyful praise to Jehovah. (Psalm 90:12) Rather than provide a rule for measuring time, the term "generation" as used by Jesus refers principally to contemporary people of a certain historical period, with their identifying characteristics."
(The Watchtower, November 1, 1995, p. 17)
"Questions From Readers"
"Could it be said that the recently updated understanding of the word "generation" at Matthew 24:34 allows for the idea that the end of the system of things could be delayed into the distant future? That is certainly not the case. On the contrary, the recent improved understanding of this matter should help us to keep in constant expectation of the end. How so? Well, as The Watchtower of November 1, 1995, explained, Jesus applied the phrase "this generation" to contemporary wicked people. (Matthew 11:7, 16-19; 12:39, 45; 17:14-17; Acts 2:5, 6, 14, 40) It was not, as such, a description of a fixed length of time beginning with a specific date." (The Watchtower, May 1, 1997, p. 29)
"In fact, "Questions From Readers" in that same issue of The Watchtower focused on two key points: "A generation of people cannot be viewed as a period having a fixed number of years" and, "The people of a generation live for a relatively brief period."
We often use "generation" in this way. For example, we might say, 'The soldiers of Napoléon's generation knew nothing about airplanes and atom bombs.' Would we be referring just to soldiers who were born in the very same year as Napoléon was? Would we be referring merely to those French soldiers who died before Napoléon did? Of course not; nor would we by such a use of "generation" be trying to fix a set number of years. We would, though, be referring to a relatively short period, not hundreds of years from Napoléon's time into the future." (The Watchtower, May 1, 1997, p. 29)
