  Ozzie: I suppose that is what happens when you take an early Germanic dialect, mix it up with Latin and Norman French, then take it all over the world picking up more vocabulary.

  Fe203: you seem to be mixing language and idioms. All languages have idioms - the other examples you hit on are usage of certain verbs originating in the mists of time and the English/French mix.

  Excuse me, but from which Awake! article did you two get these facts? This thread makes my head hurt ... I'm going back to the kh & let someone else do the thinking for me!

  i am supposed to love being with the brothers at the kh.

  i prefer the intellectual emotional stimulation of the people on this board.

  Doesn't make sense.....

  we have a relative (by marriage) who is a jw.

  even though she knows we oppose the organization she belongs to, she still wants to get together and do stuff with us (i thought jws were encouraged not to socialize with opposers).

  she's a very sweet person and my husband & i have a good relationship with her.

  Several years ago, while I was still very much a devout jw (or at least I thought I was).

  I was very friendly to my sister-in-law and her family. She had been DA'd for several years.

  Personally, I respected her decision not to be a jw, but enjoyed her company and that of her family. I used the 'family relationship loophole' to associate with them quite freely. Perhaps the fact that I had enough jw clout to keep anyone from hasseling me, played a role.

  If she is trying to convert you, that's where you have control anyway. Your knowledge give you and your husband power.

  In the meantime, enjoy them while you can. Who knows? Maybe she is in the very early stages of fading herself?

  At one of the last CA that I attended, the CO talked about how satan is focused on ensnaring jws on the web.

  Then he asked: Why do you think it's called the world-wide WEB or the inter- NET?

  Anyways, it was such an ephiphany for this group, that you could see everyone's head shaking and hear them going "Ahhh!"

  How many married folks post here and your spouse does not know?

  i got to thinking about this, and how many are here without telling anyone.. my active wife does not know i post here.

  also, i have met some wonderful local people who are here, and you know who you are.. those who i met, i regard as friends, and very supportive.

  given our backgrounds we understand each other.. is this a double life?

  I was at a restaurant with 'worldly' relatives.

  During the normal course of conversation the words 'kindgom hall' were mentioned.

  A jw comes over to the table with one of those wt grins asking which congo we went to.

  My family thought that was so strange & i was somewhat embarassed because he did it in such a way to make jws look like fanatical idiots.
