Thankfully no one asked me what kind of underwear I was wearing. It was already bad enough!

Perhaps people will gang up on me for this one: but don't you think the girl will resent you just trying to barge in and change her faith? Like, "You're perfect for me except your religion is kooky"? I'm not saying that's what you're trying to do. I'm not saying that you don't respect her or care about her. But that's what it may seem like, and it'll probably turn her off even more if that's what you do. How would you feel if she told you that your religion was a crock and you should join hers? (Which she very well might do by the way?) If she wants to change her religion, it has to be her decision. She has to get there on her own. I don't necessarily think you should run, but just be a friend to her and be there for her when she needs you. Someday, she may really need your support, and then maybe it can go somewhere. But for now, I think you'll only alienate her by trying to nudge her out of her religion if she isn't ready to leave already.

What is the big deal about prom? - Virgin Post
by bricklayer inhi everyone, another lurker comes out.
my question is, what is the big deal about going to high school prom?
other than the usual bad associations spoil useful habits, can anybody thing of other specific reasons why jdubs are so anti-prom.
-
Chia
I'm not sure about this, but the reasons I was given was mostly "bad association". Same went for pretty much any afterschool activity. Especially at prom were you more susceptible to underage drinking, pressure to have sex and do drugs, yada yada yada and BS.
So will your daughter definitely not be allowed to go? I would think if you have her that weekend, she can go if you let her go. Of course, who would want to be put in that position and deal with that friction? I didn't go to my junior prom, I feel bad that I missed out on it, but I got over it eventually. Your daughter probably will too. But I don't see the harm in her going. Just my humble opinion.
Edited to say: Welcome!

I went to St. Charles once. It was the convention from you know where. Awful. Hot, miserable...just unhappy all the way around.

You mean at the meetings? I don't think women can wear pants at the meetings unless it's the custom. For instance, I've seen Indian sisters wear pants under saris. But other than that, no.

idiots who scream you're wrong when you're not--road rage
by rebel8 inbesides my desire to hit 700 posts before noon (est) and a general base appeal for validation and attention (heee, hee), i would like to vent about something that just happened.. i was at an intersection with another vehicle.
he was in the left turn only lane (conveniently located on the left); i was in the lane very clearly marked as left or right turn only (conveniently located to the right of the other driver)...meaning i have the option of turning right or left, right?
so the light turns green and we both turn left.

I have road rage. I know it's terrible but people drive so crazy nowadays. Especially since I live fairly close to the big city, and people really drive crazy there. My word of choice is...well, obviously it can't be repeated. Let's just say it starts with "f" and ends with "er".
People who don't signal are my pet peeve.

just got df'd
by susu812 ini am very nervous about being in here.
i just got df'd last week and am unsure of how i feel about it.
i feel guilty but at the same time not.

Chia
I was going to ask if you were df'd for "immorality" because most women would probably feel embarassed when questioned by three men in a private setting about the most detailed and intimate moments that you spent in the bedroom. Let me guess, did they ask specific questions about orgasms, how many, how long, etc? I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them had their hand deep down in their pocket playing pool...
Been there, done that, brought back the T-shirt. That can make you feel so violated. Susu, welcome. I am not DF'd, but privately reproved. My mom kicked me out of the house about a month ago and I haven't looked back. You must feel so crushed right now, so low. But you picked the right place to come to for REAL encouragement. If you ever need someone to talk to, please feel free to PM me. I'd be more than happy to exchange e-mail addresses.

One upsmanship...
by hartstrings inwhen i was a regular attender, most of my jw "friends" were pioneers because that is who we spent our days with, lol.
well, it always annoyed the crap out of me when the pioneers would act like they were so special when they were able to get a new publication prior to its arrival at the local kh.
they were basically bragging about their connections.

I remember when I went to Pioneer School, I enjoyed it very much. I used to say it was the best 2 weeks of my life.
I was only 18. Now, I'm only starting to live.
