My sister went to West Virginia to work unassigned territory, and this "sister" they were staying with extended "hospitality" to them by letting them stay in her home. She was so welcoming and sweet, and told them, "Oh, and after field service, you might want to go to the roller skatin' rink. It's where all the jiggaboos hang out." My sister was like, "Jiggaboo, what's a jiggaboo?" And the "sister" laughed and said, "Why, you are, honey!"
And whenever she told that story, everyone laughed and was like, "Jehovah still has lots of work to do." I was like, "What the f**k?" That's not funny! She may as well have called them n-----s!

Did you ever see or experience prejudice in the religion?
by free2beme inbesides the strong hatred of woman, that we know the witness religion teaches, did you ever see black bothers ignored in their attempt to reach out to be ms or elders?
did you ever see latinos treated different because of how the local community viewed them?
i know the watchtower teaches that this does not happen, but i actually experienced an event with a black brother that was a friend, that bothered me when i was in the religion.

By the way, I definitely (at least in part) hold MLM directly responsible for this. I'm not angry, but anyone who tries to get me involved in MLM will get a nasty response!

I posted a while back about some stuff going on with my boyfriend. The update is, it's in his best interests to move back to NY.
I can't afford the apartment on my own, so I will be...I have no idea what I'm doing. The easiest thing is to move back in with my dad, but he is living in a room in a house which is not in the nicest area of my hometown.
I could possibly move in with my aunt who lives in CT, I'm sure if I asked her she would let me stay until I got myself together, but she is very close with my mom, and my mom will be glad to hear that I'm suffering because I've left Jehovah (yuck!).
At first I was really depressed, and I thought some terrible thoughts, but now I'm just enjoying the time left with my boyfriend (we aren't breaking up). I'm confused about where to go and what to do, but something will work out, I'm sure. It has to. I think.
Just wanted everyone to know where I was at in life!

by wanderlustguy inhow far from where you grew up do you live now?
did you leave to get away or to take ownership of your life and create a new destiny?

Did you know of anyone that appeared in the publications that left the org?
by truthseeker inthere was a rumour years ago that the couple that appeared on the brochure, "does god really care about us?
", left the truth, and that is why the cover changed.. also, somewhere on an xjw site, is the testimony of a brother who appeared in a life story in the wt, but has now left the organization.. do you know of anyone appearing in the mags that has left the truth?
what were the circumstances?

Book study in your home
by pratt1 in.
did anyone have the book study group meet in your home?.
my family had the book study group meeting in our basement and it was such a drag.. some of the reasons why it sucked.. the house always had to be spotless.. my mom insisted that there was always refreshments available for after the group meeting.. some dubs used to wander into other parts of the house, including my room.. if i missed the bookstudy because i was sick, some would actually come down to my room to talk.. there were many times when little things would go missing, glasses, magaizines, books, food, you name it.. people would check out my music and books all the time.. i have long since moved out, but mom still has the book study meeting there..

We had the BS in our home for a short time. It was the worst experience of my life. I never wanted to have it anyway, but I believe my mother wanted the glory and attention. And boy did she get it. Yeah, the house always had to be spotless, or as spotless as we could get it anyway. She also insisted on refreshments after every BS. And me and my siblings were always the ones that had to do all the cleaning and preparing of refreshments. The people who attended our book study were never grateful. We'd have the air conditioning on so it would be cool, and they'd complain it was too loud and they couldn't hear. Then we'd turn it off, and they'd complain it was too hot. Then my siblings and I--not my mother, mind you, whose stupid idea it was to even have the BS at our house--got hauled in the back room because the "friends" were complaining that the house wasn't clean enough. Yet none of them offered a helping hand, or offered to have the book study at their house, they just wanted to criticize and complain. @$$holes.
